Teacher Appreciation Week
Thanks to the PTC and the Board of Education, the teachers will be well fed this week. Normally, we also offer on the spot massage appointments on certain days (when teachers are not teaching, of course) and more, but COVID has diminished our options.
Also, I encourage you to take a moment to send out a private message of thanks to a teacher or staff member who has not only made this year possible for your student(s) but who has made it meaningful when so much else caused us to question the meaning of anything this year.
Cinco de Mayo!
In addition to music or food, I encourage you to visit the National Museum of Mexican Art right here in Chicago. Currently offering virtual tours, my family and I make at least a yearly visit and always fall in love with what we see and learn. Click here to learn more.
Wednesday is also Bike to School Day
Click on this link and you can review a bike safety video with your student before they ride off to school on Wednesday!
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Please take the time to delve into this Library of Congress site to learn more and share with your students at home. Click here for more.
Jewish American Heritage Month
Learn more about the story of Jews in America by clicking here and please take the time to share with your student and family members.
Supporting Community Members from India
In addition to offering words of care and concern for our friends when we see them, we also want to seek ways to help with the emergency on the ground. Oxygen is something in terribly short supply right now in India and points to a way we can help.
Consider donating to the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, who is taking donations to fund the purchase of oxygen to be sent to India. Click here to donate now.
