Attendance Matters!
There's a very strong correlation between good attendance and success in school. On the other hand, students who regularly miss school are also more likely to struggle in school.
Missed days add up quickly: Just two days a month puts a child's success in jeopardy because students fall behind and disconnect. By third grade, it gets much more difficult to catch up. Students with solid attendance are much more likely to be successful during school and after graduation.
It is our goal for our students to be at school 90% or more days for the entire school year. If your family is in need of support to help with attendance, please reach out to our Family Liaison or one of our school counselors We're here the help!

Bus Badges
Replacement Badges
Our bus badge program increases the safety of our students on our buses by allowing us to know who is on the bus at all times and at which stop they exited. If a child tries to scan their badge to get on the wrong bus or off at the wrong stop the system alerts the bus driver immediately.
Families, please help us by attaching your child's bus badge to their backpack and helping them remember it daily. We've already had to replace several lost bus badges this school year.
If you have questions, concerns please don't hesitate to give us a call! 503-738-5161 or email us!
Debbie Hillman, dhillman@seasidek12.org
Principal, Juliann Wozniak, jwozniak@seasidek12.org
Assistant Principal, Jeremy Catt, jcatt@seasidek12.org
If you prefer to opt your bus rider out of this program please complete this form. It is important to note that students who opt-out of the electronic monitoring portion of the program will still need to show their Student ID Bus Pass to ride a district school bus. Their badge will just not have a active barcode to scan.
Safety Drills
Safety Drills
Upcoming practice drills & information
Oregon laws require that all schools conduct:
- A Fire Drill once per month
- Three Earthquake/Tsunami Drills per school year
In addition, our schools also conduct two Lockdown drills and two Bus Evacuation drills per year. It is always our goal to prepare, not scare our students. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
More information on our safety drills is shared below:
- LOCKDOWN: A LOCKDOWN takes place if a threat is identified inside the school building. School doors are shut and locked, lights are turned off and students are confined to classrooms or offices that are able to be secured by a locking door. No entry or exit from the school will be allowed until an “all clear” announcement is made. Students will NOT be released during a lockdown.
- SECURE: A SECURE takes place if a threat is outside of the school building. All staff and students return inside and all exterior school doors are locked. Teachers may continue instruction inside as usual. No entry into or exit from the school will be allowed until an “all clear” announcement is made, or a 'modified' SECURE is put into place. Students will NOT be released during a SECURE.
- SHELTER: Students take refuge in designated areas to protect them from hazardous materials or severe weather. No entry into or exit from the school will be allowed until an “all clear” announcement is made. Students will NOT be released during a SHELTER.
- EVACUATION: In the event of certain building emergencies, students will be relocated to an EVACUATION assembly area. Parents/Guardians or emergency contacts will be notified where the reunification site will be located through the District's communication methods. Students will be released ONLY to parents/guardians or emergency contacts with picture ID. It is very important that families have current and accurate contact information in Synergy. Please contact your child's school if you need to update or revise contact information.
- HOLD: In the event of a minor situation that may require staff and students to clear the hallways, the HOLD notification will be used. Students will remain in their classrooms, continuing learning as usual. This protocol is used when a situation can be or will be resolved quickly.
Fragrance Free School
Due to student & staff sensitivities/allergies related to fragrances, we are a fragrance free school.
Please help us keep our school safe for all of our puffins by not using cologne or perfume on your child and refrain from wearing it when you volunteer.
Thank you!
Celebrating Birthdays at School
Birthdays & Treats
Birthdays are celebrated collectively in the classroom ONE time per month to honor all the birthdays of the month.
Please contact your child's teacher if you wish to contribute a healthy snack to the class monthly celebration. Healthy snacks are preferred over cupcakes or other sugary snacks.
Frozen Fruit Bars
Snack mixes of cereal and dried fruit
Raisins and other dried fruit
Crackers or healthier cookies
Pretzels
BIRTHDAY PARTIES OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL:
If you wish to pass out birthday party invitations at school, we ask that all students in your child’s class be included.
Volunteering
Classroom Volunteers
We love parent volunteers in our school! Typically, teachers organize parent volunteers for their own classrooms. Teachers depend on parent volunteers to assist with reading and math instruction as well as with other special projects and activities.
If you have an hour a week you could regularly give to your child’s classroom, the teacher would really appreciate the help. We know our parent volunteers are very important to the success of our overall program.
***All volunteers must have current background checks on file with our office. CLICK HERE for more information on how to become a volunteer. Background checks generally are good for 3 years. If you are unsure if you have a current background check on file, please email Debbie at dhillman@seasidek12.org.
Volunteer Code of Conduct:
To volunteer in the Seaside School District, applicants must complete a background screening and agree to the following Volunteer Code of Conduct:
1. I will sign in at the school office upon arrival.
2. I will wear/show volunteer identification whenever I am volunteering in a school.
3. I will follow the directions of the building principals, teachers, and other appropriate staff; I will ask for clarification if I have questions about school/district policy or rules.
4. I understand that volunteers are role models for students and I will conduct myself in a professional, respectful manner at all times.
5. I understand that when I volunteer my full attention is needed; I will not bring non-student children with me when I volunteer.
6. I will be a good listener and will encourage students with positive words and comments. I understand that it is not a volunteer’s job to discipline students and will inform school staff immediately if discipline issues arise.
7. I will share with teachers and/or school administrators any concerns that I may have in regard to student welfare and/or safety.
8. I will use only adult bathroom facilities.
9. I understand that Seaside School District has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion of all students. I will uphold district policies and values while volunteering. I will not share my personal or political views with students while volunteering.
10. I will be dependable and on time; I will communicate with the school/teacher if I am unable to volunteer on my regular day/time.
11. I will not possess or use tobacco/nicotine products, or be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or illegal drugs on school property or during school events off campus.
12. I understand that while volunteering I may learn private or sensitive information about students, families, or staff. I will keep information about students and/or staff confidential, except to carry out my volunteer duties or as outlined in this code of conduct.
13. I will protect myself, and students, by always working within view of a school staff member.
14. I will refrain from touching or hugging students, even if the student is the one who initiates the physical contact.
15. I will silence my cell phone and refrain from use of my cell phone when volunteering.
16. I will notify the School District Office immediately if I am arrested for a misdemeanor or felony sex, drug, assault or weapon related offense.

Pacific Ridge Food4Kids Sign-Up
Pacific Ridge Families:
When children are hungry, they aren't able to focus on the job of learning. The Food4Kids Seaside Program is available to help! This program is designed for children who attend Pacific Ridge Elementary School and may not have enough food on the weekends. The volunteers at Food4Kids provide a backpack or bag filled with food on the last school day before each weekend. Students will bring this food home from school on Fridays.
If you have more than one child in need of a food bag, please fill out this form for each child. The first food bag will be going home on Friday, October 4th.

All About Pacific Ridge
Student & Family Information
Our school is outstanding because of our professional, caring staff members, and because parents really understand the importance of--and care deeply about--their children’s education. It is essential that families and teachers work closely together so that each child receives the maximum benefit of our combined efforts.
You are encouraged to be involved in our school. We have a very active parent-teacher organization. When parents play an active part in their children’s education, the results are higher academic achievement, improved attendance, improved behavior, increased motivation, a positive attitude, and ultimately greater success!
If you have questions about your child’s progress, feel free to make an appointment with your child’s teacher. Our elementary school district counselor, our district’s school nurse and family liaison are also available for consultation as needed.
In addition, if you have questions or concerns that we can address, please feel free to give your principal a call. Call the school office to set up appointments with any of these people who play an important part in your child’s education.
We want your child to be successful here in the Seaside School District. We look forward to working with you and your child.
Sincerely, Juliann Wozniak,
Principal Pacific Ridge Elementary School
Bus Information
Bus Badges & Stop Information
Please click the LINK here for bus stop information.
If you cannot find your bus stop or believe it is incorrect, please contact our transportation supervisor at 503-738-7150 or cpeters@seasidek12.org.
Please be at your bus stop 5 minutes earlier than the scheduled pick-up time. Bus times vary due to traffic levels. Bus route information are posted to our school website. See link above.
In order to provide consistency and ensure the safety of our students, each child will have only ONE destination. If you need to change your child to a pick-up, please call the office prior to 1:00 PM, so we can add them to our pick-up list and let your child's teacher know.
*Kindergarteners must be met by an adult who is known to the bus driver. If another adult will be waiting for your child, please call the office to let our secretaries know and send a note to school with the name and a description of the person. If the bus driver is unsure if the adult is OK to pick up a child, the driver will bring the child back to school and we will work it out there. The driver may need to ask to see the person’s identification.
Thank you!!!
