JM Science Students Learn About Our River
Last week, Mrs. Brindley's, Ms. Morrison's, and Mr. Hine's students tested water quality last week to unearth the cause of a mysterious (but imaginary) fish kill in the Rappahannock River. They're learning how to keep our river clean and safe for recreation and drinking water! This was the first part of a Meaningful Watershed Education unit, which will conclude with a field trip to the Rappahannock River.

World Suicide Prevention Day
During this time of the year, we focus on the collective role we all play in suicide prevention. We want to take this opportunity to highlight the importance of reaching out for help, knowing how to talk to others about suicidal thoughts, and understanding what resources are available for those struggling.
If you or someone you know feels that life is not worth living, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1(800) 273-TALK. The call is free and confidential. Crisis workers are there 24/7 to assist you.
People can call or text 988 or chat 988Lifeline.org for themselves or if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.
Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Did you know that missing 10% of the school year—2 days a month—makes it difficult to learn to read by 3rd Grade, succeed in middle school, and graduate high school? Just two monthly absences can significantly impact the path to academic success. Be Present and Be Powerful! We love seeing our students at school each day. This month, consider taking some time to learn what you can do to fight chronic absenteeism.
