* Moore Street School would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Jeffrey Puckett for being selected as the 2025 Teacher of The Year and Mrs. Stefanie Wright for being selected as the 2025 Support Staff of The Year. See photo below.
* This Friday will conclude the first 4 and 1/2 weeks of the school year. The data from this checkpoint will be used to help determine if/when students are eligible to be fast tracked, which learning environment is best for students, and to make academic projections for the 2025 school year. The actual progress report cards will go home after the Labor Day holiday.
* Benchmark assessments were given last week. This data will be used to help build individualized learning plans, to help establish baseline data, and to inform classroom instruction.
* We will have our first Local School Governance Team meeting on Monday, August 26th, in the conference room at MSS. Parents there may be an opportunity for a parent representative on this board. More information will be available after the first meeting.
* Parents if your child is not in Tier 1 of the DCS attendance protocol we have created an attendance recovery plan for them. Their homeroom teacher will communicate the details of the plan. I simply cannot stress enough the importance of your child being at school each day and being on time.
* Parents if your child is not on track academically they should be taking advantage of evening/after school. Evening/after school meets Monday-Thursday from 2:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Bus transportation is available and a meal is served each day. Monday and Wednesday math and science is the focus. Tuesday and Thursday English and Social Studies is the focus.
