Weekly Newsletter
Hello Morris Families & Guardians,
As we move into November, we have some important updates and reminders to share with you. Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school community such a wonderful place for students to learn and grow!
Veterans Day Wave Parade
We proudly honored our local veterans with a heartfelt Veterans Day Wave Parade along West Street on Friday. Our students lined the sidewalk, waving flags and cheering to show their gratitude for the brave men and women who have served. It was a powerful moment of community pride, and we are so thankful for the veterans who joined us and for the student and staff enthusiasm that made this event memorable.
PTO Meeting - Tuesday, November 14th at 6:30 PM
Please join us for our monthly PTO meeting, which will be held in the school library on Tuesday, November 14th, at 6:30 PM. We’d love for you to attend either in person or via Zoom. The PTO is a fantastic opportunity to connect with other parents, share ideas, and get involved in exciting school initiatives. We hope to see you there!

End of Trimester and Report Cards
The first trimester officially closes on November 13th. Teachers are working hard to assess student progress, and report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, November 22nd. Please take this opportunity to review your child’s progress and celebrate all they’ve achieved so far this year. If you have any questions, reach out to your child’s teacher for support.
Walk to School Day in Honor of Ruby Bridges - Thursday, November 14th
Join us this Thursday at 8:00 a.m. at Lilac Park for a special Walk to School Day in honor of Ruby Bridges, the first Black student to integrate an all-white school in the South. Ruby’s courage in the face of adversity helped pave the way for greater equality in education. Let’s come together to celebrate her bravery and commitment to justice as we walk to school as a community. Hope to see you all there!
Thank you for your support and involvement in our school community. I look forward to seeing you at the PTO meeting and connecting with you as we head toward Thanksgiving break!
Odyssey of the Minds
Kim Winger fifth grade mom of Ethan Winger and School Committee member is excited to offer Odyssey of the Minds to our fifth grade students. Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) is a creative problem-solving program for students that fosters innovative thinking, teamwork, and perseverance. Teams of students work together to solve complex challenges that span various disciplines, such as engineering, the arts, and science. These challenges require imaginative solutions and often involve building structures, designing costumes, or creating performances, all under specific guidelines and time limits. By emphasizing hands-on learning and collaboration, OM helps students develop critical skills in creativity, communication, and resilience, making it a unique and enriching educational experience.
For those interested in learning more about the Odyssey of the Mind program, Kim will be hosting an informational meeting on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m., just before the PTO meeting. Join us in the library to find out more about this exciting opportunity!
