2024-2025 Calendar Updates
We wanted to update you on a few changes to the District Six school calendar. The state allows us to use up to five E-Learning Days per school year. We have reached that limit because of the inclement weather our area has experienced. Please note the following adjustments:
May 22 & 23: These days will now be full school days instead of half-days as originally scheduled.
These changes will keep us in compliance with state regulations. We truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
DHS Class of 2025 Senior Walk
We invite all of our DHS Seniors to walk the halls of their elementary school one last time Monday, May 19th.

D6 Cell Phone Use Policy
As students return from Christmas break in January, our school district will implement a new cell phone policy. Although District Six had an effective policy in place, this update complies with State Budget Proviso 1.103. This proviso required the State Department of Education to develop a model cell phone policy for all SC school districts. Students with cell phones and smart devices will now be required to have them powered off and put away during the school day. It is important to note that this policy did not originate at the local level. It is a state requirement for all districts in South Carolina or state funding would be jeopardized for our district and schools. Attached to this email is a copy of the memorandum from the state department and a copy of the new district policy for you and your child to review. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your child’s principal. Thank you for your continued support of our schools and students.

Safety in D6
Please take a moment to review the online version of our district’s Safety in Six brochure by clicking here or the link below. Thank you for what you do everyday to help create a secure and supportive environment for our school community.

Attendance, Tardies, and Early Dismissals
As we begin the 2024-2025 school year, please keep attendance in mind. Please model the importance of being at school and on time to your student to ensure success throughout the year. Please reach out to Mrs. P. Jeter if you have any questions or concerns.
To avoid tardies, students must be inside their classroom by 7:45am.
Only ten parent notes are allowed per child for the entire school year.
Students are considered truant if they have three consecutive unexcused absences, a total of five or more unexcused absences, or more than 20 unexcused tardies.
Any medical excuses must be turned in within three days upon return to school. The absence will remain unexcused if it is turned in after that time.
Please feel free to contact Nurse Lisa if you are unsure about sending your student due to sickness.
Please reference the WVES student handbook for more information regarding attendance policies.
