Music at a Glance with Mrs. Neilssen
All of the students were excited about preparing for Night of the Arts! Every class began learning songs to perform, including different languages and some exciting new instruments. 3rd graders were especially thrilled to get their recorders and learn how to play them for the first time! 4th graders spent a few days learning about ukuleles in addition to their hard work on recorder and reading music on the staff.

April Update in Title I
April is National Poetry Month and we are planning lots to celebrate here at Pierce School. Firstly, April 10th is Poem in your Pocket Day. Students and Staff will carry around a poem in their pocket to read to others when asked. We will also spend some part of the day mixing up our classes to visit each other in multigrade groups and read each other our pocket poems!
The following week students can sign up to share poems of their own creation with the school during lunch at our Pierce Poetry Slam for 2025! Last year was such fun, kids have been asking for us to bring it back this year! We can’t wait for this!
Finally, as you have already heard, stories and presentations will be shared during our school wide Literacy Night on April 24, 2025 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Come and enjoy the presentations of some classic stories, enjoy some light refreshments and browse the free Book Swap as well! We are accepting donations of your gently used books that you might like to donate to the SWAP. Regardless of whether you donate, there will be plenty of books available for the taking for all students.
Thanks for Listening!

Family Childcare Survey: Interested in Before & After School Childcare?
Extended Day Programming Survey - Please Fill Out...
Over the past two school years, we have searched for Extended Day Programming, which would bring before and after school care into Pierce School. Please take the time to fill out this brief survey about what kind of before/after school care you might be interested in for next school year, if this partnership were to come to Pierce School. We would need to have a minimum number of students to run the program for the morning and afternoon, so this survey helps us determine if we would have enough students to start the program. It would also allow for "Drop In" students to come on occassion.
Thank you for your patience, as finding the right partnership has been extremely important to us!
All my best,
Alisha Hansen-Proulx
