Students will begin following their official daily schedules this week.

8:00 a.m. Broadcast

The daily broadcast will be posted to the School Alerts Banner on our website by 7:55 a.m. each day; wcpss.net/carrollms.

8:05 a.m. Leadership

Leadership and character will continue to be the daily focus of Carroll's My Learning course. Students will engage with content through asynchronous instruction facilitated by Ms. Julie Cline, magnet coordinator, and Ms. April King, Instructional Facilitator and AIG teacher. For the week of August 24, My Learning will be posted to the School Alerts Banner on our website by 7:55 a.m. each day. Starting the week of August 31, students will access this coursework via Empower.

Friendly Reminders

Accessing my child's schedule:

Schedules can be accessed in PowerSchool, which is a Home Base application. All middle and high school students have access to Home Base. Home Base is accessed through each student's WakeID portal. Instructions on how to access these applications can be found here | en español.


New students to WCPSS will need to request their WakeID from school staff.

Understanding my child's schedule:

Big Idea: All students will engage in relevant, rigorous, and meaningful learning experiences each day.

Broadcast & Leadership: ⋜30 minutes ‖ Pre-recorded announcements, stories, and celebrations from school leadership, and assigned tasks that are directly aligned with the Leader in Me (Leadership) and Positivity Project (Character).

Class Meets: 30 minutes ‖ All students will be required to attend four core classes each day, in addition to two electives Tuesday through Thursday. Students will attend their Elective 1 course on Monday and their Elective 2 course on Friday.

Attendance will be recorded within the first ten minutes of the assigned class time. Class meets are not limited to live instruction for the entirety of the allotted thirty minutes. Meets may also consist of pre-recorded instruction and/or assigned independent or collaborative tasks. Students will be expected to utilize afternoon independent work hours to complete course-related tasks.

Office Hours: 30 minutes ‖ All core and ICR teachers will facilitate daily office hours during designated times to supplement student learning and address individual student and small group needs. Students are required to sign-up in advance of the office hours in order to ensure that student directed meetings do not interfere with teacher directed meetings. Elective teachers will accommodate student needs on an as necessary basis.

Schedule Change Request:

If you would like to request a schedule change for your child, please let us know here by Friday, August 28.

Empower:

During the week of August 24, teachers will support students in navigating Empower. Student schedules and course standards will continue to populate during this time. Starting August 31, all instruction will be facilitated in Empower.
