Please Welcome to the Howbert Community!
We have two new staff that have joined the Howbert team, both are class size impact teacher assistants.
Dayna Bird - Dayna will be working with Julie and her combination class to support learning. Dayna is no stranger to Howbert. She is a grandparent of a Howbert student and she held the same position last year in 4th grade.
Catherine Coil - Catherine will be partnering with Cyndy and Chelsea to support our large 5th grade classes. Catherine is a perfect fit for the position having taught 5th grade for many years.
PTO Walk-A-Thon!
Thank you to all the students, families, and volunteers for making this the best Walk-a-Thon ever!
And the biggest thanks to the Howbert PTO for organizing and putting on this fundraising event!
All the funds raised go directly back to the students and school.
CityServe
Howbert was a CityServe site for this fall. Twenty volunteers met at Howbert Elementary and did some great work to help the school.
- Assembled four new picnic tables that will be used behind the school.
- Cleared out weeds in the Legacy Garden and on the playground.
- Installed a trash receptacle on the preschool/kindergarten playground.

Each page of the book is posted at different nearby businesses. Pick up a map at Old Colorado City Library, or print one from our website, and stop by each location to read the book. While you’re there, go inside, there might be a special treat waiting for you! The story will be available Oct. 1 - 31.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend the Harlem Wizards basketball game at Holmes Middle School. Mr. Lefere will be playing on the Holmes team!
The Cougars Care Corner Market
The Cougars Care Corner Market is now open for the 2024-2025 school year!
The Corner Market is a food distribution site partnered with Care and Share to help meet the tangible needs of the community.
Everything is free, you just take what you need and leave enough for others. Everyone may come on Thursdays from 3:00 - 6:00 when the Corner Market is open to the community.
The Corner Market supplies fruit, veggies*, non-perishable goods, snacks, school supplies, toiletries, hygiene products, clothing items, etc. when available.
*We have a limited amount of fresh produce but will supply what we can.
The Corner Market serves our entire community, so please utilize it!
Volunteering at Howbert!
The staff and students at Howbert love to have volunteers at the school supporting learning. If you would like to volunteer, please speak with the classroom teacher or contact the front office to share with us how you would like to help.
One of the first steps all volunteers must take, is to complete the Colorado Springs School District 11 Volunteer Application.
It is best to complete the application prior to visiting the school to volunteer.
Below is the link that will take you directly to the online volunteer application.
If you have any questions, please contact Amanda-Jo in the front office (719-328-4211).
