Reminder: No School Tomorrow
From the desk of Sr. Kucinski
It is so hard to believe that we are one fourth the way through the 2023-24 school year. This time of the school year always flies by as we approach the holiday season. As we approach parent / teacher conference over the next two two weeks, please take a moment to reflect upon all they have learned and how much they have grown the first quarter. Be certain to focus on highlights, as well as areas they are continuing to work towards. Parent / teacher conferences are the way to hear progress, celebrate success, and focus on where all students are headed. Here is a quick article on how parents can prepare themselves (and their children) for a successful conference:
https://childmind.org/article/teacher-conferences-a-guide-for-parents/
Please know that should you need to set up a time with myself, our amazing social worker Ms. Boyles, or our fabulous dean of students Ms. Schenkelberg, all of us will be available to connect and meet during conferences.
As you have probably heard, our entire K-5 school district of Prior Lake - Savage is implementing a new math curriculum this school year, Bridges. If you are interested in learning, please consider attending the Parent Math Night on Thursday 11/9 at 6:30 in the Twin Oaks Middle School auditorium.
If you have any questions, I am always happy to hear from you; I can be reached directly at 952-226-0303 or rkucinski@plsas.org.
In partnership,
Richie Kucinski

From the Dean: Attendance Matters
We have had a great start to the 2023-24 school year and we want to continue to support students and families with school attendance. In connection with our attendance policy, the attendance team regularly reviews attendance, and sends home letters quarterly to any student who has missed 10% or more of school.
Being proactive with attendance and supporting families is a priority at La ola del lago. At this point if your student(s) has missed 5 or more days of school that equals 10% of their year and you will be receiving a letter in mail in the next couple of weeks. We understand that some absences may be connected to vacation or illness, but this still attributes to the total amount of days missed. The purpose of the attendance letters is to communicate and inform.
We are here to support you to solve any problems, barriers, or concerns you - or your student(s) may have when it comes to attendance.
SIGN UP FOR A CONFERENCE WITH YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER
