A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Clarkstown Central School District Families and Staff,
It is hard to believe that the final week of school in 2023 is over! I could not be more grateful for another year of serving this thriving, vibrant and generous District. These past few months have been filled with exciting lessons and experiences for students as well as philanthropic efforts that continue to benefit our community.
Clarkstown High School South recently held its second SEL-ebration of the academic year. Students participated in community-building activities that foster their social-emotional needs to forge strong friendships, create safe and valuable learning environments and handle challenging situations that may arise. The event had a “Southern Lights” theme, which encouraged our Vikings to spread kindness by being bright lights in their school and world. Some of the popular stations included writing cards to staff, active military and senior citizens and singing holiday songs.
Thanks to our Music Department, the sounds of the season will continue all winter long! Our concert series is in full swing with several of our schools having already held their annual performances. I would like to congratulate our talented chorus, band and orchestra students for raising our collective spirits during the holidays, and look forward to all of our remaining festivities.
The end of another year brings with it time for reflection. I am so proud of the individual and shared achievements we have realized together and anticipate an even brighter, more dynamic future for our students, faculty, staff and community as we move into 2024. Your efforts, passion, energy and resources are much appreciated and vital for the continued growth and success of CCSD.
Please be reminded that schools will be closed from December 25-January 1 for the winter recess and will reopen on January 2. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or simply enjoy this time of year for the chance to relax and spend time with loved ones, I wish you all a safe, joy-filled holiday season and a wonderful New Year! Now, let’s take a look at some of the memorable moments and accomplishments from December.
Warmest regards,
Marc P. Baiocco, Ed.D.
