MEASLES INFO
You may have seen in the news that there have been two cases of measles in the East Valley recently. While we hope that these are the last of the cases, it is important to acknowledge that Measles is extremely contagious and that there is a possibility that this could impact our schools at some point. Therefore, we would like to share some helpful and important information with our families. Typically the illness starts off with a fever, cough and runny nose. It is soon followed by a rash that typically starts at the head and soon covers the entire body. If measles does spread into our school community we will immediately begin working with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) and you will be notified. Any students who are not vaccinated will be identified and MCDPH will determine when they can safely return to school. Unvaccinated students may need to be out as long as 21 days and if more cases arise, it could be longer.
If you have any questions regarding measles or would like resources on vaccinations please reach out to our Health Office.

What Does It Mean To Be A Title I School?
Title I is the largest federal aid program for public schools. Schools can be designated as “Title I” if certain criteria are met. Title I is the federal government’s commitment to closing the achievement gap between low-income and moderate to high income students. These funds are used to help all students meet academic standards. Click the links below to learn more!

How We Implement Title I Funds at Harris
Hello Harris Community,
I'm Connie Wieberg, our school's Reading Specialist, and I'm thrilled to share the vital role of Federal Title I funds in our reading programs.
Thanks to these funds, instead of half-day, I am able to work full-time alongside Ms. Christie and Ms. Martinez, providing tailored interventions for 60 students from kindergarten to 6th grade. We administer screeners to identify struggling readers and offer intensive support to bridge their gaps.
I collaborate with our incredible Reading Coach, Mrs. Rambo, and grade levels twice a month during Data Team Meetings and three times a month during Wednesday afternoon PLC. These sessions help us review progress monitoring data, smart goals, and refine classroom interventions or whole group instruction.
Beyond interventions, our Title I funds ensure that Ms. Christie and Ms. Martinez can assist with essential duties such as crosswalk, lunch, and recess supervision, fostering a safe environment for all students.
With this support, our team fosters a safe environment and unlocks possibilities for our students. Together, we're shaping a brighter future for every learner.
Warm regards,
Connie Wieberg
