Also, students who are getting breakfast, please go directly to the North Cafeteria upon arrival at JMMS. Some students are going to 1st period before heading to breakfast and missing class time as a result. Remember, the cafeteria closes at 7:50am sharp. Thanks!

Something Rotten! JR., is the story of two brothers who set out to write the world’s first musical in the hilarious mash-up of 16th century Shakespeare and 21st century Broadway. Do not miss out on your chance to see this production of the Bottom Brothers as they realize that reaching the top means being true thine own self, and all that jazz.

Dear Parents,
Artificial intelligence is the defining technology of our times: in our voice-activated devices, smartphone face recognition systems, autonomous vehicles, and now in generative AI like ChatGPT. The potential for all students with diverse interests to apply this technology for good is limitless.
I’m excited to share with you that this summer, Jackson High School is offering an in-person project-based artificial intelligence program through Inspirit AI, an AI education program developed and taught by Stanford and MIT alumni and graduate students. The program will consist of 9 3.5-hour sessions on weekdays from June 16-27 (except June 19th).
Students from grades 6-12 who will learn the fundamental concepts of AI and gain a deeper understanding of how AI is used to build ChatGPT and generative AI, fight the COVID-19 pandemic, power self-driving cars, and more. Students will learn to program AI using Python, discuss ethics and bias within AI, and complete a group project applying AI to disciplines like healthcare, astronomy, finance, and more! No prior computer science experience is required to participate, and advanced cohorts are available. Separate middle and high school sections will be offered.
If your student may be interested in participating in this unique opportunity, please fill out this short interest form. The program is offered at cost of $1400 for 31.5 hours of hands-on learning with AI practitioners and graduate students from Stanford and MIT who will travel to Massillon to teach this pre-college program. Purple Star Schools is a program that supports military-connected children as they relocate to new schools due to a parent’s change in duty station.
Military children move every two to three years. The Purple Star School program is designed to help schools respond to the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected children face during their transition to a new school and keep them on track to be college, workforce, and life-ready. Military-connected refers to children of service members on active duty, and in the National Guard and Reserves.
Any military family is eligible regardless of rank.
Veteran's children & families are eligible 12 mos. past date of separation.
Any branch and component is welcome.
Gold Star Families are eligible.
Service members and their families continually make sacrifices when serving their country. In the past, many were unable to finish school while supporting their country in a time of war. Ohio law allows for school districts and charter nonpublic schools to grant a diploma to those that left high school during World War II, the Korean conflict, or the Vietnam conflict. Schools can award diplomas directly to a veteran or present them posthumously to a living relative. Schools and districts have the option to create an application that meets established criteria or use this sample application.
Military Child Education Coalition: Call for the Arts
The MCEC Call for the Arts program invites military-connected children from all over the world, representing every branch of service, to share their artistic interpretations of what it means to be a military-connected child. Since 2002, thousands of military-connected children have shared their experiences, dreams, and challenges through art.
The 2025 Call for the Arts contest is now open. Any military-connected student in grades K-12 can submit an entry here. Submissions are due by April 30, 2025.

School Liaison Office
The School Liaison Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base helps military-connected students transition from one school to another and helps military families navigate the school system. The School Liaison Office is the central point of contact for commanders, military families, and local school systems on school-related matters. School Liaison services are open to all military families across the state.
Military to Civilian Transitions
Founded by military spouses in 2009, Blue Star Families empowers military families to thrive as they serve. The organization is committed to strengthening military families by connecting them with their neighbors. They support families on active duty, in the National Guard and reserves, and veterans.
The Blue Star Families Military Family Lifestyle Survey, which gathered insights from over 100,000 respondents, sheds light on the challenges military families face. Over half the veterans that participated in the survey described their transition from the military to civilian life as difficult or very difficult. One of the top issues for transitioning service members was employment and career development. The Ohio Military Veteran Educators Program (OhioMVEP) assists service members, veterans, and spouses with starting careers in education. The program provides career counseling, hiring bonuses, and access to the SkillBridge apprenticeship program.
