Rowlett News to Know
July 29, 2022
Week of February 26, 2024
Dear Parents,
We value your input! Scroll down to access the annual Panorama Survey. Once you complete the survey, fill out the Google Form linked below. Students whose parents fill out the form confirming they completed the survey will get 20 Dojo points! (Note: The only way for us to see if you completed the Panorama Survey is to fill out the Google Form.)
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week, 3rd-5th grade students will be taking STAAR Interim. This is a very important test as it helps each teacher identify the areas of support each student needs. This information guides small group instruction, tutoring, and STAAR test prep. Please ensure your child gets a good night's sleep prior to each testing day. We will make sure they get a great breakfast!
Due to STAAR Interim testing, the campus will be closed to lunch visitors on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Dear Families,
I want to thank the parents and staff members who attended the Welcoming Walkthrough. They provided excellent feedback that we will work to implement as soon as possible. One of their ideas was to have a Suggestion Box, so I've added one to the News to Know. Scroll down to see it!
Special thanks to Yvette Guzman, our counselor, and Vicki Swinford, our secretary, for organizing and prepping the event.
Our district values your feedback! This month, we will be asking you to take a brief survey to tell us about your experience with Rowlett Elementary. To ensure we continue to provide high-quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.
The survey is available for you to take now through March 1st. You will be able to take the survey online at home using this link:
surveys.panoramaed.com/garlandisd/FamilyWinter2024/surveys
Once you complete the survey, fill out this form so your child can receive additional DOJO points!
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 972-475-3380.
Thank you.
Hello Bobcat Families,
I feel like our students are getting healthier every day! These kids are amazing! We have been practicing the Pacer this week for grades 3-5. This is a required annual test that your kids are ROCKING! We are teaching the students to work on improving their personal score and not to compare their score with other kids' scores. I love the determination these students have to get better!
Field Day is March 8th! We are excited to have a fun day of some friendly competition! Make sure you check out Garland ISD social media to see our Bobcat PE program highlighted!

Please take a moment to read the procedures for eating lunch with your child:
- Parents and guardians wishing to eat lunch with their children will sign up using the appropriate link below.
- Students will eat with their grown-ups in the foyer.
- Adults visiting for lunch must sign in at the office and wait in the foyer for their child to arrive.
- If you are bringing lunch for your child, they will meet you in the foyer instead of going through the lunch line.
- If your child is eating the school lunch, he/she will go through the lunch line first and then meet you in the foyer to eat.
- We have limited seats available per grade level, and grade level lunches are open to parents on different dates and times.
- Parents must secure a slot for lunch in advance. Spaces are limited to a first-come, first-served basis.
- If you find you are unable to come to lunch after signing up, please remove your name from the sign up. This will reopen the slot for someone else.
If you have any questions, you may contact Ms. Madrid in the office or via email at grmadrid@garlandisd.net .
Reminders: Lunch visitors must sign in with a valid and current (not expired) ID in order to eat lunch with their child.
