Behind the Scenes: Staff Spotlight
Frankie, Children's Librarian (and Interim Program Manager)
In just six months, Frankie has become an indispensable part of our library family, loved by staff and patrons alike. Inspired by her passion for helping children develop a love for reading, Frankie has been instrumental in planning programs that spark a love of learning and science. Her favorite part of the job is working with amazing kids and hosting fun story times. Outside of the library, Frankie enjoys spending time with family and friends and exercising on her Peloton. She also has a couple of unique talents—she once hula-hooped for over an hour without dropping it and can make balloon animals! Originally from Locust Grove, Georgia, and a graduate of Daytona State College, we're thrilled that Frankie has made her way to Indiana and the Danville-Center Township Public Library.

Book Reviews and Recommendations
'Look in the Mirror' by Catherine Steadman
Catherine Steadman has written other books I’ve really enjoyed, including Something in the Water and The Disappearing Act so I was very excited for her newest book, Look in the Mirror and it did not disappoint. It’s a psychological thriller that pulls you in from the very first page. This book weaves together two stories - one of Nina who is grieving the loss of her father and the other of Maria, a nanny for very wealthy families.
Nina learned that her late-father left her a home in the Virgin Islands, one she didn’t know existed. The home was beyond her wildest dreams and she’s left wondering why he kept this from her, how he afforded it all, and what is behind the locked door that she can not find a way into.
Maria is hired for her next contract as a nanny, but when she arrives at the home the family isn’t there. While she waits (and waits…) for their arrival, she begins to enjoy the accommodations but there is one rule - do not go into that room. It’s off limits.
Soon, in both stories, they enter the room and begin to feel trapped - but is it all a game? The twists just keep coming!
'Circe' by Madeline Miller
Circe is a profoundly interesting story that captures a large swath of Greek mythology, and tells it from the perspective of the witch Circe from the epic poem The Odyssey. I was extremely impressed with Madeline Miller's ability to capture the feeling of the Greek poetic epics while still being easy to read and understand and engaging. Each character you meet from the titan Helios to Odysseus himself is steeped in thoughtful details that keep every encounter Circe has full of depth, and gives every secondary character a three dimensional feeling. Circe by Madeline Miller is a book I got on recommendation, and is now one of my favorite books I've read in the last few years.
