The Soaring Eagle News
Alderman's weekly family newsletter to keep you in the know.

Greetings Eagle Families,
I am Bobby Garcia and am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Alderman Elementary School and officially welcome all new and returning families to the 2024-2025 school year at Alderman. My hope is that you have enjoyed a safe, happy, and healthy summer, while taking time to rest, relax, and rejuvenate in preparation for a new year. I come to Alderman as a former eighth-grade science teacher at Williston and assistant principal at Hoggard High School, which provides me with a variety of experiences to build on in this role. More importantly, I am a father and husband, with my son Maddox starting fourth grade and my daughter Nora beginning first grade this year, so I understand the excitement and energy of having elementary-age children. I am eager to meet each of the wonderful families who call Alderman “home” at our upcoming open house events and throughout the school year.
My goal is to build upon the existing culture of excellence and achievement, working collaboratively with our exceptional staff and our dedicated parents to provide an enriching educational experience for all students. I firmly believe in fostering a positive and inclusive school culture, promoting student success in all areas, and valuing the unique talents of every individual. We will continue to provide a safe and nurturing environment for each child, in which we strategically focus on the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of each Alderman Eagle that we serve. Our goal is always to maintain a high level of academic excellence, while helping all students S.O.A.R. each and every day:
Scholar -love of learning, be curious, ask questions, explore, think creatively, and strive for excellence.
Optimistic - stay positive, be persistent, believe in yourself, keep an open-mind, and work hard.
Accountable -take ownership, be honest, reflect, and be dependable
Respect - demonstrate courteousness, understanding, and compassion.
It truly takes a village to raise our children and we are excited to partner with you all to create the ideal environment for each Alderman student to reach new heights academically and socially at school and at home this year.

Volunteer Information
All volunteers, both Levels 1 and 2, must complete volunteer training each school year.
We love our volunteers! Whether you want to assist in a classroom, lead a small group, attend a field trip, or simply help in an area around the school, we need you to complete the application process to ensure you are either a Level 1 or Level 2 volunteer!
Our Level I volunteers work under the continual supervision of school staff. If willing to serve our school as a Level I Volunteer, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Read all of the information in this presentation, Volunteer Orientation, and the NHCS Volunteer Handbook (we will get this to you as soon as it becomes available).
- Complete the Volunteer Orientation Assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
After completing Level I certification and if you are willing to complete Level II requirements, please complete a Background Check Application. Background checks cost $22.50 and are valid for three (3) years. Our Level 2 Volunteers may work alone with students and may not always be with a staff member.
General Guidelines after receiving district clearance to serve as a volunteer:
- Please have your photo ID ready when coming to campus to either sign in.
- When volunteering, please respect the instructional day and stay within your volunteer area.
