Beginner Band Announcements
Welcome beginners to the AJH Band! We look forward to see you in the fall! A couple announcements, we are having Registration and instrument rental night on August 19th from 4-7pm. This night is a great opportunity for you and your parents to purchase/rent your instruments and get all the supplies you need for this year. I will also have a QR code available for anyone who needs to fill out forms including shirt sizes. Our shirt costs are included in our $30 band fees which also covers binders, pencil pouch, dividers, and music fees.
Instrument Supply List can be found on our website at the link below.

BAND REGISTRATION FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS
All scholars/parents will need to attend band registration on Tuesday, August 19th from 4-7pm (come and go between that time). Enter through the front door and go directly to the band hall. If you are helping with registration, please come in the front of the school and meet us in the band office.
Registration night is where beginning band scholars will purchase or rent an instrument AND supplies as needed.
All band scholars will need to pay the annual band fee ($35 cash or check).
7th and 8th graders will be sized for concert attire.
If your scholar plays a SCHOOL owned instrument, you will need to pay the instrument rental fee ($40 for the year). School instruments are Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Euphonium and Tuba.
Band Supplies and Instruments
All scholars should bring their instrument and band supplies to school every day. Beginning band students will start to take their instrument home daily once we have taught them how to handle them with care.
Honors, Symphonic and Concert band students must be sure to bring their instrument, reeds, music and tuner every day. All scholars in 7th/8th Grade bands will need a Korg tuner with a microphone clip. These can be purchased from Amazon or can be ordered through our local music stores. We recommend Ellis County Music or Tarpley Music. You can always purchase these on the registration day as well.
Honors and Symphonic Band Sectionals
REQUIRED BAND SECTIONALS: (Only Honors and Symphonic Band)
To better set your family calendar for the year, we wanted to take a moment and explain our sectional schedule to you. Sectionals are a time where each director will meet in small groups of like instruments and give upper level instruction and tips for success on that individual instrument. This is a required weekly rehearsal for everyone in Honors Band and Symphonic Band.
We have made every effort to avoid as many school related conflicts as possible. With over 200 band students involved, we have managed a schedule that has very few conflicts. We will help communicate with the coaches and sponsors to work out an arrangement for the students to be involved in both. Please let both coaches and directors know when there are overlaps so we can collectively help with a solution for you. If there are any questions, please help by communicating those concerns to us this week so that we can address them as well.
AM Sectionals: 7:10-7:55
Arrive anytime between 7:00-7:10 AM. Be seated in your rehearsal area and begin playing by warming up, doing daily drills, scales, and going over music. βTo be on time is to be early!β Students will enter the door at the back of the school near the tennis courts.
PM Sectionals: 3:50-4:45
Arrive in the rehearsal area no later than 3:47. Be seated in your rehearsal area and begin playing by warming up, doing daily drills, scales, and going over music. You should be ready to begin rehearsal promptly at 3:50. You will be dismissed promptly at 4:45 and can have your rides pick you up outside by 4:50pm. We ask for the safety of our scholars, that a guardian is ready to pick up all scholars by 5:00pm.
This sectional routine will help each individual player grow as a musician and motivate them to achieve a new level of personal best. We hope that you will enjoy spending time in these groups as much as we enjoy working individually with each and every one of you.
Please contact us if there are any further questions about sectionals!
