Not all courses are available for recovery through Edgenuity.
Eligible students must complete this form by the end of the school day April 12, 2024. Marking period 3 recovery must be completed by May 31, 2024. . Email Ms. Bridges (kjbridges@smcps.org) if you have questions.
No Food/Drink Deliveries
Due to safety concerns and the demands on the main office, we do not accept food deliveries of any kind. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Senioritis and Spring 2024
- Senioritis is not new. The term has been around since 1907 (www.merriam-webster.com, 2024).
- Don't risk what you may have already earned, such as scholarships or admission to programs, by skipping classes and full days of school.
- It's hard to restart good habits once they are broken. Make your life easier by keeping up healthy school habits of being on time and completing your work.
- Create some goals for yourself or amongst your friends and family to help you finish strong. Guardians, please help us help the students finish strong as they wrap up their Senior year.
- By definition Juniors cannot have Senioritis, so Juniors keep working hard- the summer is not too far away.

MTSS UPDATES
Raider Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
Solar Eclipse
LEONARDTOWN, MD—A partial solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, 2024, in St. Mary’s
County. The eclipse will begin at approximately 2:00 p.m. and end just after 4:30 p.m., with
maximum coverage at approximately 3:20 p.m. During the eclipse, there will be 86-88%
coverage, during which it will get darker outside, but there will not be total darkness.
All St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) dismiss at some point during the eclipse period.
Families and students should be aware of the following safety tips:
• Never look directly at the sun, especially during a solar eclipse. It is dangerous
and can cause permanent damage to the eyes. Do not look at the sun through
sunglasses, telescopes, or binoculars.
• Anyone using special viewing glasses or filters should only use those that
conform to all International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards.
• If you purchase special viewing glasses, ensure they are from reputable
manufacturers. There have been reports of counterfeit products labeled as if they
conform to international safety standards. The American Astronomical Society,
whose products are known to conform to ISO standards, provides a list of
reputable companies that conform to safety standards.
Eclipse resources for elementary students, including how to safely view the eclipse, will be
shared with schools on April 2.
Students and families are encouraged to read more about solar eclipses and safety and enjoy
experiencing this exciting phenomenon.
Families and students can safely view the eclipse via live stream here: NASA live stream of the
solar eclipse.
In addition, listed below are solar eclipse events sponsored by St. Mary's County libraries:

If the branches have surplus glasses after their programs, they will be available to library
visitors on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Then, on the day of the eclipse,
the Mobile Library will be at the Dorsey Park pavilion with the same solar science activities and

Reminder for Parents/Guardians - Student Drop Off
Parents who are dropping students off at school in the morning should use the parking lot lane closest to the building. Please do not park in in a space and wait to drop your student off. Unfortunately, parking is very limited for both students and staff. Utilizing extra parking spaces for this purpose can create an issue where there is nowhere for staff or student drivers to park. Additionally, please do not drive down the middle parking lot lane in order to drop a student at school. We appreciate your help!
Reminder: Students, make sure your laptop is charged each day!
Students, please make sure your laptop is charged each day. Bring your charger to school in case your battery runs out.
