SIX HOSA STUDENTS QUALIFY FOR STATE COMPETITION
Six Dripping Springs High School Health Science students qualified for the Texas HOSA State Leadership Conference following their performances on an online test to begin the 2022-23 competition season.
Students qualified for the state contest by placing in the top three in Area 1 to automatically advance to state and skip the area competition. Students advancing to state are Teresa Brod (Medical Reading), Noelle Butkevic (Behavioral Health Science), Priya Chandrani (Healthcare Issues Exam), Connor Johnson (Health Informatics, Healthcare Issues Exam), Bailey Inglish (Medical Reading) and Alyssa Stradling (Medical Math).
Bethany Harkrider (Pharmacology), Margot Heltzel (Human Growth & Development) and Audrey Lorenz (Pharmacology) placed in the top five in the area to finish as state alternates. Four additional DSHS students advanced to the Area 1 competition: Makenna Blakesley (Medical Spelling), Luke Bohan (Physical Therapy), Hannah Rowe (Pharmacy Science) and Jasmine Zogaib (Dental Science).

DSHS STUDENTS NAMED TO ALL-REGION BAND
Dripping Springs High School band students had a strong showing at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 18 auditions last week at Akins High School in Austin. A total of 41 DSHS students were named to the Region 18 band with 18 of those students advancing to the TMEA area auditions next month.
The Area E auditions will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at Westlake High School.
