The Great Kindness Challenge
๐ Throughout the week, staff and students will engage in meaningful discussions and activities focused on cultivating everyday kindness. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in a schoolwide food drive and enjoy themed dress-up days all week long (details below)! Weโll conclude Kindness Week with an assembly featuring the highly-anticipated annual dodgeball tournament.๐คพ๐ฝ
๐ฅซFamilies who would like to participate in the non-perishable food drive should have students bring items to their 1st-period classrooms. Thank you!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
๐ Conferences will be held on Monday, February 10th and Tuesday, February 11th. All conferences will take place in ROOM 13, unless otherwise arranged.
๐๏ธ Monday: The sixth-grade team has scheduled specific meeting times with select families. If Mrs. Roussety reaches out to schedule a time with you, please confirm your appointment as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. Thank you!

May 2025 School Bond

Language Arts
Students will begin NWEA testing for ELA this week. Please encourage your child to give their best effort on this assessment.
๐ Homework:
15-20 minutes of reading from a book of their choice.
Work that students are unable to complete during class.
Work that students miss when they are out of school for sickness, travel, etc.

Math
โก๏ธ Ask your student if they have the poem memorized yet! It starts with, "Hey Diddle Diddle, the median's the ________."
Science
๐ซ We will not have a quiz this week but we will be working on some bookwork questions preparing for next week's quiz. Have an awesome week!
Social Studies
๐ This week, we will wrap up the final lessons of our People and the Environment unit. Students will explore the following topics:
- Migration Patterns
- The Challenges of Urbanization
๐ฏ Students will take the People and the Environment test on Thursday, January 30th. They will be encouraged to take their lesson notes home on Monday to use as study materials over the following days. Students can also access all unit lessons and resources on Google Classroom. *Please note: While practice quizzes can be a fun and engaging way to study concepts, the absolute BEST studying resource will always be the lesson notes!
โฎ๏ธ Celebrating the Life and Legacy of MLK
Last Monday, we took a meaningful break from our regular unit studies to focus on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students participated in a scavenger hunt to uncover important facts about Dr. King and his contributions to the civil rights movement.
Additionally, some students worked together to create a mural featuring Dr. Kingโs most famous words. The final result was truly inspiringโI think it turned out GREAT!
Art
๐ฅฃ The art room could use more large yogurt or similar containers.
๐ฆ Also if anyone is downtown and can pick up free cigar boxes from Nolan's we need about 12 more for a future student projects. They are placed in their window when available.
๐ This week we are gearing up for a fresh semester of learning about Art Materials, Methods, and Art Movements! Students are creating and personalizing their art portfolios and art journals that they will be using the rest of their time here in the art studio.
