DPS team completes Heart Walk
The DPS Heart Walk team participated in the Danville Pittsylvania Heart Walk on September 21, and raised $987.97 for the cause! Thank you to the DPS employees who joined the team and fundraised!
Career ChoICE Expo
This week, all 7th and 10th graders visited the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex for the Career ChoICE Expo, where students were able to explore career possibilities and connect with employers from around the region. Students were able to discuss various career fields and complete hands on activities.

September 28 - River City Classic Band Competition. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
October 1 - GW JV and Varsity Volleyball home games vs. Mecklenburg at O.T. Bonner, starting at 5:30 p.m.
October 2 - Middle School and GW Cross Country meet at Angler's Park, starting at 5 p.m.
October 3 - GW JV and Varsity home games vs. Bassett, starting at 5:30 p.m.; GW JV Football vs Magna Vista at 6 p.m.; School Board Policy Committee Meeting at 4:30 p.m.; School Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Bulldog Boosts at Gibson
Ice Cream Making
At Park Avenue, Mrs. Manley's class celebrated the end of summer by making Ice Cream in a Bag. Students used their math skills to measure ingredients from a recipe for making vanilla ice cream. Students talked about the states of matter and how a liquid turns into a solid when it gets very cold. Our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Smith, joined in as everyone enjoyed the tasty cold treat-served with sprinkles, of course!
Spirit Week at Gibson
Pre-K Curriculum Night
Northside and Grove Park Preschools held their first parent meeting last night, showcasing what we are learning. Students and their parents parents participated in a letter hunt, building with math and stem materials, and completed an obstacle course. We had so much fun!
"Top it"
During Math Intervention, 5th grade students at Park Avenue sharpen their multiplication and division skills by playing an engaging game of "Top It." This fun, competitive activity helps them build fluency with numbers while boosting their confidence in math!
Field Trip
5th Grade Bulldogs had a wonderful time on Thursday at the Virginia Museum of Natural History!
