Parent Resource Center
The Frederick County Parent Resource Center provides information and support to families of children with disabilities as they work with school staff to identify and meet their child's unique needs. The Parent Resource Center can help with understanding IEP language and timelines, help you reinforce academic and behavior goals at home, create visuals for you to use at home, help you learn more about your child's disability, loan you materials to reinforce basic skills and help you locate community resources.
The Parent Resource Center is located in the FCPS Administration Building at 1415 Amherst Street. Mrs. Kirk is in the office 8:00 - 3:30, please call or email to make an appointment.
If you have ideas or suggestions for ways we can help families of special education students please contact Joy Kirk.

Frederick County Public Schools maintains an active and continuing Child Find program designed to identify, locate, and evaluate those children residing in the jurisdiction who are birth to age 21, inclusive, and are in need of special education services.
Any child who is identified as having a disability and qualifies as in need of special education is entitled to a free, appropriate public education designed to meet his/her needs. Early identification assists parents, students and schools in the design of appropriate educational services. Referrals can be made by anyone concerned with the child's educational performance including the parent, child's teacher, community agency or a school official.
