Diabetes Awareness Walk Friday
Getting our steps in!
Tomorrow we will walk outside for Diabetes Awareness. Blue is the color of the day! Students should dress appropriately for the weather. We will walk in memory of Mr. Jeff Mackall. Please consider donating $1 for the walk. The money will go to the American Diabetes Association.
From VERYWELLFIT: Exercise and walking are excellent tools for controlling Type 2 diabetes and improving health for people with diabetes. Brisk walking workouts can help you maintain a steady blood sugar level and body weight if you have Type 2 diabetes. A 30-minute walk at least five days per week is recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Diabetes Association.
Educational Support Professionals Day
CCS celebrates our support professionals!
Next Wednesday is Educational Support Professionals Day. CCS has MANY support professionals! We recognize the vital role each one has, both inside and outside the classroom. The National Educational Association (NEA) lists nine services under the Educational Support Professionals umbrella (clerical, custodial/maintenance, food, health, student para-educators, security, skilled trades, technical, and transportation services). To all of our staff who fill these roles... we see you and we THANK YOU!
Enfield Memorial Bridge
We are happy to announce that the Enfield Memorial Bridge has been completed! We owe a BIG thank you to the Calvert Environmental Trust for Youth for awarding CCS the grant money to complete this project. Kudos to Principal Lindauer and Ms. Elliott who worked together on the grant. The supplies were purchased from Ace Hardware and delivered promptly. Eagle Scout Troop 430 and their leaders then built the bridge this past Saturday. Congratulations to Sylar Lester for completing his Eagle Scout Project.
The nature path, the bridge and the surrounding area are especially important to Calvert Country after the passing of former Special Education Teacher, Mrs. Nicole Enfield. With a love of science and nature, Mrs. Enfield personally worked on the upkeep of this wooded area. She also chaired our CCS School Beautification Committee. After Mrs. Enfield's death in November 2023, Ms. Elliott deemed it essential to continue the work that Mrs. Enfield started.
CCS will hold an Epilepsy Awareness Walk and small dedication ceremony for the bridge on Tuesday, November 26th, exactly one year after Mrs. Enfield's passing.
