Family and Community-Driven Project-Based Learning: Cardboard Sleds + Winter STEM Olympics
David Hicks Elementary is buzzing with innovation and teamwork as families and volunteers lead an exciting project-based learning unit for students. Over the past few weeks, parents, staff and volunteers have come together to guide students in designing and building sleds using only glue, duct tape, and cardboard. The ultimate goal? Creating the fastest sled to compete in a thrilling Winter Olympics-style racing tournament during a field trip to Metamora. Students had a great time testing their designs.
