November News
Crescentwood Stars
Letter from the Principal
Dear Crescentwood Families,
We’ve reached the end of our first card marking period, and what a wonderful start to the school year it’s been! It’s incredible to see how much our students have grown in just a few short months. We are so proud of their hard work and commitment to learning. As we move forward, let's continue working together to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of each child.
Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, November 1st. Do NOT be alarmed when looking at the report card as some areas will not have any markings. The report card serves as a document that will have items assessed throughout the entire school year NOT just the first quarter. These will be areas that the teachers and students will be working at during other times in the school year.
As we move forward, we are planning some exciting events and learning opportunities. I encourage you to continue fostering a love for learning at home by asking your child about their day and discussing what they’ve learned. A few reminders:
Birthday Treats: We don't mind celebrating with a treat to go around but those treats should be individually wrapped. We are an allergy smart school. This is for the health and safety for our students.
Medication: If your child needs any form of medication throughout the day, you need to fill out the required paperwork. Students can not have cough drops, inhalers etc in their possession this includes in their book bag. Please contact the front office if you have any questions.
Early Release: The office is closed for early release everyday from 2:45-3:15pm everyday. The office is busy during that time getting our students and staff ready for dismissal. Thank you for understanding.
Parking lot: While pulling into our school isn't always the easiest, keeping Crescentwood Ave. free of parked cars will help with the flow of traffic. Please make sure to continue using the parking lot at arrival and dismissal times. If you park on Beechwood and walk over, the homeowners just ask that you don't park across the driveways.
Attendance: Regular attendance is key to your child’s success. Please make sure your child is on time and ready for learning each day. If your child will be absent, please call the school office to report the absence.
Meeting: If you need to set up time with a teacher it is best to arrange it with the teacher themselves through DoJo or email. Once the school day begins our teachers are hard at work with their students.
I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our families for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. Together, we are building a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Warm regards,

The Detroit Lions Touchdown for Teachers program is designed to celebrate and support outstanding educators by providing them with Lions experiences and classroom grants to enhance their teaching experience while benefiting their students. This initiative aims to recognize the hard work and dedication of teachers who go above and beyond in their classrooms.
How It Works:
- Nomination Process: Students, parents, school staff and community members can nominate a teacher who has made a significant impact in their lives or in the classroom.
- Grant Selection: Nominations will be reviewed by a committee, and selected teachers will receive grants to fund innovative projects, resources, or activities that will enhance student learning.
- Celebration of Teachers: Recipients will be recognized, showcasing their contributions and the positive effects they have on their students.
Why Nominate?
- Empower Educators: Help your teacher gain the resources they need to implement creative ideas and improve their classroom environment.
- Acknowledge Dedication: Show appreciation for the time and effort your teacher invests in their students every day.
- Developing the Future: Grant-funded projects can lead to innovative teaching methods and inspire students in their learning journey.
Nominate your favorite teacher today and help them turn their classroom dreams into reality! Due by Monday, December 2nd! See the attached link below for the process.
