Sunday Worship March 16
“The Light Gets In: Lessons from a Potter” with Rev. Nancy Reid-McKee
After 50 years of throwing clay on a pottery wheel, I have learned how art can be a practice of meditation and grounding, and I have learned to let go of perfection. One of the most important lessons has been the beauty found in our flawed and broken pieces.
12:15 pm Forum (onsite & online): “Rooted in Love — Aspirational Budget” with the OUUC Board. You can find a visual depiction of budgeted income sources and expense categories on the Stewardship page, here. Bring your questions to this forum.

Last Sunday's Events
From the OUUC Stewardship Team
As of this morning, we have 138 pledges and a total of $395,938.84 pledged!
We’re about halfway through our Stewardship Drive, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who has pledged so far. Each year, during this special time, members and friends of OUUC come together to show their support for our beloved community through financial commitments.
Your pledge directly sustains the high-quality programming we cherish, maintains our two services, and ensures that OUUC remains a welcoming space for all who seek us—now and in the years ahead.
Pledges are the foundation of our budget. Knowing in advance what households plan to contribute allows us to plan with confidence. We understand that pledging is a personal decision, shaped by many factors. Stewardship is both a practical act and a spiritual practice, reflecting our shared commitment to this congregation we love.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. It takes all of us—many hearts and hands—to support our vibrant and growing community. If you haven’t pledged yet, we invite you to do so today. Together, we can build something truly special.
Thank you for being a part of OUUC!

Loneliness and Isolation
In 2023, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, issued a report on the epidemic of loneliness and isolation in America. The report talked about the negative effects of these on our physical and mental health and general wellbeing. The report estimated 1 in 2 adults in this country reported significant loneliness. According to the report, young adults are almost twice as likely to report feeling lonely. Ethnic and racial groups, and LGBTQ individuals are also at higher risk. Anyone of any age or background can experience loneliness and isolation The report also explored the healing effects of social connection and community.
Members of our own OUUC community report experiencing loneliness and isolation. While OUUC provides a wide variety of social groups, events and classes, we know there are barriers to feeling connected. Technology and transportation, as well as not feeling a sense of belonging (deep connection) in a community can make connection difficult. How many positive close relationships we have, frequency of contact and how much these address our needs, impact how connected and supported we feel.
The Pastoral Care Team hopes to better address this need in our community. As a first step, we want to hear from those among us who are feeling disconnected and lonely. This will help determine the need. Hearing what would make you feel more connected, will assist in creating ways to enhance social connection in our beloved community.
If you are willing to share your experiences and thoughts, please contact us. You can also talk to one of us at service, just look for the green stoles.
Loneliness is real. Together, by recognizing and discussing our needs we can begin to lessen the feeling of isolation and loneliness.
