Lower Campus
Field Days
Weather permitting, field day will be held on Thursday and Friday at the “lower playground” (Charles McDaniel Park). Please see the schedule below. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend and cheer on the students. Early check-out ends at 2:10pm each day; there will be no exceptions on Field Day.
Field Day t-shirts were sent home today with students who ordered and paid for one. We did not order extra shirts. Students who did not order a shirt are encouraged to wear the following colors: French track = blue; Mandarin track = white; Spanish track = yellow. Students may also choose to wear GLOBE Spirit Wear instead.
Thank you in advance to our Field Day volunteers. Please click here to see assignments.
Volunteers may report directly to the lower playground; there is no need to come into the school to sign in.

Family Literacy Night - May 15, from 6pm to 7:15pm
Get everyone in their pajamas and visit Lower Campus to eat dinner and enjoy a night celebrating literacy!
Caregivers will start the evening with a live webinar with our guest speaker, Dr. Tricia Zucker, author of Strive-For-Five Conversations: A Framework That Gets Kids Talking to Accelerate Their Language Comprehension and Literacy.
While caregivers attend the webinar in the Village Plaza, children will participate in an interactive Read Aloud and activities with a teacher volunteer in classrooms.
After the webinar, caregivers will join their children for food and storytelling fun!
For those caregivers not attending the event, we invite you to join the live session with Dr. Tricia Zucker at 6:15pm via Zoom.
Library
Checkout is officially closed for the school year. Thank you for making this year in the library so much fun! All outstanding library books must be returned by the last day of school, May 29.
If you have any questions, please email Ms. Stowe.
Volunteers Needed
We need strong helpers to carry and load boxes of books next week around 4pm. If you are available to help, please email both Ms. Daniel, Director of Language Program sdaniel@theglobeacademy.net and Ms. Martin hhartmartin@gmail.com.
LC Clinic
Bean the Service Dog
As you know, the clinic now has a service dog (Bean) present in the office. Bean has completed four years of training and 1,600 contact hours to become fully certified as a Diabetic Alert Dog. There is a sign outside the clinic that lets students know if Bean is present. Safeguards have been put in place for any student who may have a fear or dislike of dogs. Please feel free to email Kate if you have any questions or concerns. She is happy to answer appropriate questions. This is a valuable learning opportunity on how to interact appropriately with working dogs who may be supporting members of your community.
Medication Pick-up
Please make arrangements to collect any medication on or before the conclusion of this school year. We are unable to store these items over the summer. Any medications not retrieved by the last day of school will be discarded.
Upper Campus

6th grade - Friday, May 23.
You can view the flyer/schedule for the Upper Campus field days by clicking here.
We are still looking for a few more parent volunteers to help at UC. Please sign up here.
Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month
Upper Campus is celebrating Mental Health Awareness throughout the month of May. We hope to bring awareness to the importance of engaging in healthy coping strategies to build resilient students. If you have any questions regarding Mental Health support for your student, please reach out to UC Counselors, Morgan McKinnon and Terrace Anderson.
UC Clinic
Medication Pick-up
Please retrieve any medication by the end of the last school day (May 29) from the UC Clinic. Any medications that are not collected at the end of the school year will be properly discarded for safety purposes. Please contact Ms. Davalyn via email with any questions or concerns regarding prescription/OTC medications.
Upcoming Field Days
Field Day will be approaching soon! This will be a very fun and active day for students. Please make sure students are well equipped with water bottles/hydroflasks, wear appropriate shoes (to avoid unnecessary injuries), bring inhalers/breathing chambers if required, take appropriate allergy medication (due to outdoor activities), and for those who are sensitive to the sun, wear a hat and/or sunscreen.
UC Connections
Thank you to everyone involved in making this such an awesome school year with the GLOBE Band! Please have all school-owned band instruments at school on Friday to be assessed for necessary repairs. If your current band student (rising 7th and 8th grade) would like to rent an instrument from GLOBE over the summer, please contact Ms. Bryant-Gerhardt directly via email.
