Students, Coaches, and Coordinator of the Month
Prathyush Ravi - Cockrell Elementary
Prathyush Ravi is one of this month’s UIL Elementary School Student of the Month. Prathyush is a student at Cockrell Elementary School.
Ms. Stevens said that Prathyush has participated in UIL since 2nd grade. The thing that stands out to me is Prathyush doesn’t look for UIL events that he can win, he looks for UIL events that will help him learn and grow. Prathyush has placed in district UIL several times. He is truly a special kid.
Navya Karman - Johnson Elementary
Navya Karman is one of this month’s UIL Elementary School Student of the Month. Navya is a student at Johnson Elementary School.
Ms. Bergstrand said that Navya has experienced dramatic improvement. She is 100% committed to the messy process of learning and growing, and her hard work is evident to the whole Impromptu Speaking Team at Sam Johnson.
Kellen Thomson - Johnson Elementary
Kellen Thomson is one of this month’s UIL Elementary School Student of the Month. Kellen is a student at Johnson Elementary School.
Ms. Packer said that Kellen shows excitement for UIL and is anxious to compete again. He is teachable and willing to take the feedback from last year, apply it, and do his best this year.
Mr. Andrew Carter - Cockrell Elementary
Mr. Carter is our Elementary Coach of the Month. Mr. Carter coaches ALL 4 grades of Chess Puzzle and has been doing so since Chess Puzzle began at Baker. He truly connects with his students, REALLY teaches them the game of chess, and always has winners from his group of kids. Mr. Carter is a Cockrell treasure.
Vaishnavi Giriraj - Hays Middle School
Vaishnavi Giriraj is this month’s UIL Middle School Student of the Month. Vaishnavi is a student at Hays Middle School competing in Speech events and more.
Ms. Jagers said that Vaishnavi puts incredible effort and care she into the UIL experience. She always asks questions, always requests feedback, and always pushes herself to be better. She helps others and encourages those around her. Vaishnavi is deserving of being recognized all the time!
Ms. Stephanie Thomas - Reynolds Middle School
Ms. Thomas is our Middle School Coach of the Month. Ms. Thomas typically teaches social studies but was willing to step up and coach Math UIL. In addition to knocking it out of the park last year, she participated in UIL events this past summer. Once we got up and running this school year she had her practices running, a plan to manage the large number of interested students, and communicated clearly with the coordinators as well as the parents/students. She is an essential team member to Reynolds UIL!
Mr. Scott Cronin - Rock Hill HS
Mr. Cronin is our High School Coach of the Month. He has been a huge help in getting UIL rolling at Rock Hill. He is so knowledgeable about all things UIL! He is always there with a great attitude and a helpful hand. His kids love him and he has a very successful program!
Karina Morris - Prosper High School
Karina Morris is this month’s UIL High School Student of the Month. Karina is a student at Prosper High School competing in Film.
Karina has overcome so many struggles in her life and has become a state and nationally recognized film producer. She works very hard and goes above and beyond for her group and her projects. She is always asking me what she can do to help or how she can do better: a true growth mindset that is very refreshing for a teacher!
Ms. Valerie Watson - Reynolds Middle School
Ms. Watson is our Coordinator of the Month. She is not only a co-coordinator but once our events had coaches she stepped up to coach THREE events that did not have coaches! They are speaking events! Being new to Prosper is a challenge itself, but stepping up to do all this is amazing! Did I mention she is a floating teacher meaning she doesn't have a classroom so she secured space to hold practices in as well!
