Notes from Mrs. Riehman
Dear Lake Louise Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed a wonderful winter break with your loved ones. We are excited to welcome all our students back to school tomorrow, Monday, January 6th. A friendly reminder that doors open at 9:00 a.m. and school begins promptly at 9:15 a.m.
All students brought home Chromebooks/iPads over the winter break. Students must return to school with their charged Chromebooks in cases tomorrow. Students in grades K-2 should also bring their chargers back to school.
Colder temperatures have arrived just in time for our return to school. As the weather allows, students will go outside for recess daily (weather conditions and recess plans listed below). Please make sure your child has their winter gear (hats, gloves, scarves, boots, snow pants) ready for school. They can wear it to school or bring it in a bag for storage. To help your child become more independent, please practice putting on snow pants and boots at home.
The new year is a great time to emphasize the importance of regular and on-time school attendance. Consistent school attendance is crucial for your child's academic success and social-emotional well-being. We understand that unexpected absences may occur. However, frequent absences can significantly impact a student's learning and development. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed at Lake Louise!
It's always a great day at The Lake!
Jen Riehman

Weather Conditions and Recess
Elementary students generally go outside for recess every day. Therefore, they should dress appropriately for the weather. Exceptions are made only when a child brings a doctor’s note excusing them from outdoor recess.
Cold weather: Indoor recess is determined based on the following guidelines:
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is below 0°F, all students will remain inside for the entire lunch hour.
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is between 0°–10°F, the preferred procedure is a rotation of 20 minutes for lunch, a 20-minute outdoor recess, and a 20-minute indoor recess. However, at the principal’s discretion, the students may be kept inside for the entire lunch hour.
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is above 10°F, students will have regular outdoor recess.
Make This Year Count with Great Attendance!
Tip: Reward your child for good attendance with special treats or privileges. Let's keep absences to 9 days or less!
