Pine Street Elementary School
Welcome to Mrs. Vicic!
It is my great pleasure to introduce Dustine Vicic as the new Principal of Pine Street Elementary for the 2025-26 school year. Dustine come to us with a lot of admin experience in both in elementary and junior high schools. I know she will do a wonderful job as your new principal next year, and I am very excited for you and the 2025-26 School year. 😊😊😊
Mr. Arbuthnott
Dear Pine Street Families,
I’m thrilled that I will be joining the Pine Street community as your new Principal for the 2025–26 school year. It is both an honor and a privilege to begin this next chapter with such a dedicated school family.
Over the past seven years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in school leadership across three diverse school communities, including a K–9 school where I’ve worked as Assistant Principal and stepped into the role of Acting Principal throughout those years. These experiences have shaped my leadership with a deep commitment to building strong relationships, supporting student success, and fostering inclusive, engaging learning environments.
With great respect for Pine Street’s rich traditions and a strong belief in the importance of partnership between home and school, I look forward to working together to nurture each student’s growth, curiosity, and confidence.
I’m genuinely excited to get to know you and work together to make the upcoming school year one of meaningful connection, learning, and celebration.
Take Care,
Dustine Vicic

National Volunteer Week takes place April 27 to May 4. On behalf of the Board of Trustees at Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), I want to say a giant thank you to all EIPS volunteers. This year’s theme is Volunteers Make Waves, and that’s certainly true in our Division. No matter whether you’ve chaperoned a field trip, helped out at a hot lunch day or provided support in a classroom—every time you’ve stepped in a school—you’ve made a ripple effect that washes over your community. These waves of positivity, hard work and dedication build up and make a momentous impact on a student’s experience at school.
So, thank you again for being a part of our ocean at EIPS. The waves you’ve made—and will continue to create—all contribute to our collective goals of ensuring learning and working environments sustain student learning and amplifying the importance of public education in our province. This National Volunteer Week, I encourage everyone to celebrate the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours put into supporting student growth and achievement at schools across the Division.
Cathy Allen Chair, EIPS Board of Trustees

Bottle Drive for Fit Kids!
We will be having our bottle drive to fundraise for Fit Kids, Friday, May 23, starting at 3pm at the Pine Street school parking lot. In April, students will be coming home again with a blue bag and details on prizes. As a parent council, to continue with the Fit Kids program, we need to fundraise 7,000 annually to cover the instructor time. As in prior years, parents can contribute through bottle donations, cash donations on the website through Healthy Hunger, or if you are part of a corporation that donates to registered charities or an individual that would like to donate, Elk Island Public School will provide a registered charity receipt for you for income tax purposes.
More details will continue to be posted on the Bear’s Blog, so please check it out!
