NBJH Weekly Update 11/15/24
November 15, 2024
Principal's Message
Hi folks,
We were very fortunate to kick off our week by hosting the annual Veterans Day ceremony that was attended by all of our staff and students, members of the local VFW and American Legion Post, and other community members. Our Wind Ensemble performed a medley of each of the service songs as we recognized members in attendance from each branch of the military. Veterans held a powerful 'fallen comrade' table ceremony to honor those soldiers who never returned from duty. Our guest speaker, Erica Borggren -- a Rhodes Scholar and West Point graduate -- gave a tremendous speech to the audience about the importance of ALL service, not just military service. After students returned to class, we concluded the ceremony with a rifle salute at the flagpole as Taps was played by current GBN student and NBJH alum, Olivia LaCerra.
It was truly an honor to host our local veterans and pay tribute to all they have done for our country. We are pleased to offer an opportunity for our students to gain a deeper understanding of what this day means for individuals and for our nation as a whole. A special thanks goes out to band director, Greg Scapillato for his efforts coordinating this event with several outside organizations.
Enjoy the weekend...
Scott
