Texas Citizen Bee Competition
Texas Citizen Bee Competition
Students from Mr. DeLay's AP US History, AP European History, and On-Level US History classes attended the regional event for the Texas Citizen Bee Competition, held through the State Bar of Texas, Law Related Education Department.
The competition is broken up into two parts - the first, a written exam where students take a 35 question test. The second part takes the top 10 highest scorers from the written test, and advances them to the verbal portion of the competition, where there are three rounds of questions. The student with the highest points - wins. Only the 1st place winner from regionals advances to state in Austin in April. Twenty lucky students from the state of Texas get treated to a trip to the state capitol, tours of the capitol and courts, and a banquet. And guess what...We ARE ADVANCING TO STATE!
Ehren Lawyer took first after both portions, representing LCHS, and region 17.
LCHS Top 10 Placements after the written test:
2nd - Taylor Young
3rd - Jason Rogers
5th - Joaquin Esquivel-Sanchez
9th - Brandon Alcantar
10th - Ehren Lawyer

Scholarship Opportunities
Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship
One of the many objectives of the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation is to invest in the future of LCISD students - in part through awarding scholarships to deserving seniors seeking to further their education.
LCISD seniors are encouraged to apply for the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship. The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship is open to all Lubbock-Cooper seniors (Lubbock-Cooper High School and New Hope Academy).
During the application process, seniors will also have the opportunity to be considered for four memorial scholarships.
This is a great opportunity for our hard-working students to get a head start on funding for college or trade/technical school! Students can complete the online application at https://url.lcisd.net/lcef2025. The application deadline is Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
