October 30, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Dear Northpoint Families,
It’s hard to believe November is right around the corner. Remember that we do not have school this Friday, November 1. Staff will be engaging in professional learning around the science of reading and engagement.
Thank you for the ongoing conference conversations that have been taking place. As a reminder, if you haven’t had the opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and would like to, please reach out. They will find a time that works to connect.
Tomorrow is Halloween, and we know many students and families participate in a variety of Halloween-inspired activities. Please remember that we do not celebrate Halloween during the school day. We ask that students please keep any costumes and treats at home to enjoy after school.
Tyler Nelson
Northpoint Principal
Issues with MyStop app
If you have bus riders in your household and use the MyStop app, please be aware that the app is experiencing issues. Due to a software configuration problem, the MyStop app (that provides real time bus route information) is not functioning properly. All of the entities that support the app are actively working to correct the problem. Transportation will notify bus riding families when the issues has been resolved. Thank you for your patience. Any questions can be directed to transportation@district16.org.
Northpoint Lockdown Drill - Tuesday, November 5
On Tuesday, November 5, we will practice a lockdown drill at 1:50 p.m. If you do not want your student to participate in the lockdown drill, please contact the Northpoint office by the end of the day, Monday, November 4 at 763-600-5700.
Parent drop off reminders
- Student drop off time is 9 a.m. Students may not be dropped off prior to this time unless they are attending the Learning Ventures program.
- If you are dropping your student off after 9:20 a.m. you must walk your student into the building.
- If you are dropping off your student in the carline, please stop behind the parent drop off stop sign. This allows room for our busses and vans that drop off on the front curb.
Northpoint picture retake day is tomorrow
Picture retake day is Thursday, October 31. If your child missed the original picture day, their picture will be taken and families may order using the link below. If you would like retakes of your student's original picture, please email Jodi Super at jsuper@district16.org to ensure their photo is retaken.
Vision screening coming soon
The health office will be conducting a vision screening for 1st and 3rd graders and all students in the CONNECT program on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. If your child wears glasses be sure they have them at school for the screening. This year, we are excited to partner with the Spring Lake Park Lions Club. They will be bringing trained volunteers to use a vision spot screener to screen students for potential vision issues. If you do NOT want your child to participate in vision screening, please call the health office at 763-600-5704 by Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Exercising with a real hockey pro! A huge thank you to Sydney Brodt from the PWHL Minnesota Frost for sharing her journey of healthy habits with Northpoint 1st graders - nutrition, exercise, sleep, and teamwork! The kids loved asking questions, sharing their own habits, and moving their bodies with a real pro. Here’s to staying active and healthy on and off the ice!

Do you have clothing that you're looking to give away? If so, please bring along new and gently used sweatshirts and sweatpants in sizes 4-16 to the Fall Festival! We're helping Nurse Tammy restock her office so that she can take care of our Northpoint students who may need an outfit change or an extra layer.
