The days are changing from warm to cool, the leaves are changing from green to brilliant orange, yellow, and red! In the blink of an eye, we are mid-way through October.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. We are proud of our Lady Knights Volleyball teams for hosting the Block Breast Cancer game. Thank you to our team volunteers who collected over 70 gifts from our very generous York community and businesses. The event raised $2,500 for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.

September 18, 2024, was a beautiful evening for the Middle/High School Open House. York alum Chris Green arrived early with his Comfort Foods trucks so that staff and our families could enjoy a delicious meal while visiting our school. Teachers enjoyed meeting their students and families and sharing about their curriculums.

One week later on September 25, it was another warm evening for the Elementary School Open House. The students proudly showed off their classrooms and the artwork hanging in the hallways. Yummie's ice cream truck was on hand for a delicious treat.

Thank you to all of the YCS families who attended our open houses - it was a pleasure to meet you and we truly appreciate your support.

The elementary school focuses on a character trait each month. Students who demonstrate that trait are recognized at the end of the month character assembly.

High School Social Studies teacher Mr. Bill MacKenzie and Mr. Domnic Chirico, accompanied a group of York High School students to GLOW With Your Hands - an exploration into the trades. The event was held at the Genesee County Fairgrounds.

Congratulations to York/Pavilion Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Victor Van Vliet!

York/Pavilion Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Victor Van Vliet was honored on September 7, 2024, as the 2024 inductee to the NYS High School Girls Soccer Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place at Niskayuna High School.

Coach Van Vliet is in his 33rd year coaching girls' soccer at York. His impressive record includes 430 wins, nine Sectional titles, and two NYS championships.

York Central School Athletic Director Ed Orman says this is an impressive achievement for Coach Van Vliet.

“Your time, dedication, and loyalty to women’s soccer in the Northeast, New York, Section Five, the LCAA, and of course the purple and gold of York and York/Pavilion, is unmatched. Generations of strong women have been blessed to have you as a coach, mentor, supporter, and in many cases, a family member. Thank you for all your support over the years and congratulations.”
