LV Primary Parent News
September 4, 2024
Dear Primary Parents,
Starting this week, we will have spirit ribbons for sale each Thursday before the tardy bell. Have your student arrive early and bring a $1. We sell washable spirit tattoos and spirit ribbons for $1 each. Exact change is appreciated. Our first sale is tomorrow, September 5 from 6:45 am-7:25 am. (If your child wants a ribbon and a tattoo, send $2.) This continues each week through football season. The ribbons align to the Varsity football scheduled opponent. Go BEARS!
Our school hours are 7:25-3:40. Our car line opens at 6:45am daily. Student attendance is taken at 9:30 am daily, please keep this in mind when making appointments. A student must be here at 9:30 am to be counted present for the day. A student may only miss 15 school days total for the year (excused or unexcused.)
Thank you,
Mrs. Keck

Bond Construction Updates
Soon you will notice construction beginning at the Primary Campus! Primary will be getting a new classroom wing where the blue playground (closest to the Intermediate) is located. In mid-September, we will lose the usage of the blue playground. All students in K-2 will use the red playground. For the most part, we won't have interruptions to our regular routines and instruction- other than changing up our walk path to the bus lane and everyone using the red playground. We will share updates as they occur.
Parent Behavior Tip of the Week
Focus: Struggling With Structure
Despite having visual schedules in place, practicing routines, and clearly explaining expectations, my child still struggles. What might my child not be understanding? What could I be doing wrong?
You are not alone. Many parents ask themselves these questions when implementing schedules for the first time. Elementary-aged children typically take several weeks to adapt to a new home schedule and routine. The exact time frame can vary depending on the child’s age, personality, and the complexity of the routine.
Frustrations for Parents:
Consistency Required: Parents need to be consistent in enforcing the new routine, which can be challenging amidst their own busy schedules and responsibilities.
Behavioral Resistance: Children may resist changes or test boundaries, which can be frustrating and require persistent patience and discipline from parents.
Adjustment Period: There might be an adjustment period where routines do not go as planned, leading to potential disruptions and increased stress for parents.
Communication and Reinforcement: Ensuring children understand and follow the new routine requires clear communication and reinforcement, which can be time-consuming.
Individual Differences: Each child adapts at their own pace. Some might adjust quickly, while others may need more time and encouragement, adding to the parents’ frustrations.
To help ease these frustrations, parents can be patient, provide positive reinforcement, and gradually introduce changes to the routine.

Volunteers for Classroom Gardens
Each homeroom will have an outdoor garden bed. We are seeking parent volunteers who will work with our master gardeners for the gardens. Please let your child's teacher know if you are interested in helping with the gardens.
