TWO COMMON QUESTIONS:

  1. How are 9th grade schedules determined?
    The high school counselor references 8th grade courses and grades, including high school classes taken during the 8th grade year. Parents may choose to override an assigned course.

  2. How does a student choose a CTE pathway?
    YouScience results and the Career Pathway Fair provide information to students and parents/guardians. CTE Pathway options vary by high school. Click on the link below to read the CTE Pathway options for each high school.

8th grade - Freshmen orientation night - March 7th starting at 6 p.m.
Message from SHS: On 8th grade night we will present information regarding 9th grade scheduling, graduation requirements, extracurriculars, sports, and academic opportunities at Smyrna High. Students who attend this night will receive their class selection/registration materials for 9th grade as well as specific instructions on how to fill out that paperwork prior to counselors coming to the middle school for registration. The SHS counselor visits TFAA March 13th 8:10-9:10 a.m. to collect course selections. Mrs. Gill will be present when students meet with the SHS counselor.

Tip: Take a picture of the course selection sheet for your reference.

Message from Stewarts Creek HS:
This event will begin in the gymnasium with an informational session for all students and parents, followed by an open house for rising 9th grade families to explore the many departments, clubs, teams, and organizations here at Stewarts Creek. We hope you join us for this wonderful evening, and we look forward to meeting the Class of 2028!
Past school years, SCHS delivered course selection packets for TFAA students zoned to them around March 8th. I send those home and parents look over the course selections with their student. The SCHS counselor visits TFAA March 13th 12:30-1:30 p.m. to collect course selection packets. Mrs. Gill will be present when students meet with the SCHS counselor.
