Our next Feeding America food truck distribution will be next week Tuesday, November 14, from 4pm-6pm at the high school.

Timely attendance is an important life skill that will help your child graduate from college and keep a job.

Ways you can encourage this life skill:

• Talk about the importance of showing up to school every day.
• Help your child maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.
• Have your child pick out their outfit and pack their lunch the night before.
• Try not to schedule dental and medical appointments during the school day.

Godwin Middle School had the pleasure of hosting Dana Vanderlugt, author of Enemies in the Orchard, last week! Dana talked about the history of POWs in Michigan during WWII (many of us had no idea we had POWs here back then!), how she became an author, and her writing process, and she answered the many questions our students had for her.

Each year, Nov. 1 marks the beginning of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, in Mexico. The holiday is a day of remembrance for those who have died. An ofrenda is an essential element of the Día de los Muertos celebration. Also known as an altar, it is a special offering or tribute to deceased loved ones. Our students created their own ofrena in the media center:

Quick Facts:

• If students have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, they are asked to go home.

• If students or staff are COVID positive and asymptomatic or well enough to return to school (No fever for 24 hours), a well-fitting mask is encouraged. Nothing is required.

• If your child tests positive, please notify the building office. We are still required by health code to report positive cases as a communicable disease.

We have free COVID tests in the office, available for all interested staff and parents.
