Warrior Weekly News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
March 22, 2024
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
Between the excitement about the upcoming break and the chaos of spring weather, yes indeed, our Warriors had a little extra energy this week! As hard as we try, we just can’t get all of these teenagers to be as excited about the pythagorean theorem, stoichiometry, or the conjugation of verbs as they are about vacation. Don’t worry, we will keep working on it!
Even with the excitement of Spring Break looming in the air, our Warriors continued to do awesome things here throughout the week. Our incredible chorale program hosted a beautiful Masterworks concert in our PAC. If you were not able to attend, you seriously missed out, and you need to make it a priority to see them yet this spring. It is truly inspiring to hear our Warriors shine in so many different ways.
We also learned that thirteen students from our H.O.S.A. Club (for future health professionals) qualified for the highly competitive state competition in April! Congratulations to Keira Petersen, Mirjana Todorovic, Camden Blenker, Mackenzie Choinski, Abby Olsen, Tanvi Patel, Mason Wendt, Caleb Poniewaz, Lindsey Schlegel, Ali Engelfriend, Ellyn Rask, Alabyha Prasad, and Ava Colon.
In other exciting news, our Ed Rising Club (for future educators) has also been hard at work. They recently completed a book drive that brought in over 1500 children's books to share with students across the state. Additionally, the club competed in seven different competitions at the state conference and had two students qualify for the national competition in Washington D.C. in June. Congratulations to Avery Heinrich and Kylie Lehrmann for this huge accomplishment!
Now, click off your device, and please go enjoy some family time over break. Whatever your plans are, make the time count because the high school years go by way too fast. Do something fun, and make sure to create some smiles and memories.
Have an awesome spring break, and GO WARRIORS!

DISTRACTED DRIVING DEMONSTRATION
Do you know that texting while driving is 6 times as deadly as driving while drunk? Do you know that 25% of car accidents are the result of cell phone usage? Do you know that 11 teens die from texting and driving every day?
On average, three in five people will be involved in a crash due to impaired driving in their lifetime. About one in four teen car crashes involve an underage drinking driver. In 2021, 27% of young drivers (ages 15-20) involved in fatal crashes had blood alcohol concentrations (BACs) of .01 or higher, and 22% of those young drivers had BACs of .08 or higher.
On April 12th, our Future Business Leaders Association students will facilitate a distracted driving demonstration in partnership with the Muskego Police Department, Tess Corners Fire Department, and Flight for Life. The event will be graphic and emotional and feature a mock crash site with several of our students playing the role of victims at the scene.
The goal of the event is for students to realize the potential significance of their actions when driving. Both distracted driving and impaired driving are entirely preventable. Please encourage your students to take this event seriously and talk with them about the dangers of texting while driving and/or driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Raising awareness and reminding students of the dangers associated with this behavior just might save a life.
Additional details regarding the event, including the supports that will be provided to help students process through it, will be shared with families in early April.
Thank you for your support on this collaborative project!

BUS BEHAVIOR
We would like to remind you that bus behavior is an extension of the school day, and riding on the bus is a privilege afforded to our students. Just as we expect respectful and responsible behavior in the classroom, we also expect the same standards to be upheld while traveling to and from school. It's crucial for the safety and well-being of all students that good behavior is maintained on the bus. We kindly request your support in reinforcing this message with your child, emphasizing the importance of respectful conduct during their bus rides. Together, we can ensure a positive and safe environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation.

MHS Student Parking
Dear Warrior Families,
We have reached the point in the school year where we have sold and fulfilled the number of parking passes for students that equals the number of student parking spots we have on the high school campus. We know that it is an exciting time in a teenagers life when they get their driver's license and want to continue to provide parking for new drivers moving forward. At this time if a student were to need to purchase a parking pass, it would be for our "satellite" parking lot by the soccer field. There will be a satellite lot specific parking pass issued to the student at a reduced rate of $20, students would need to register their vehicles just as in any other case. These parking passes can be picked up in the Athletic/Activities Office and paid for through Infinite Campus.
Just as a reminder, any vehicle on campus without the appropriate parking pass may be ticketed by the City of Muskego Police Department.
