RVHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
February 19, 2021
Message From Mr. Dignan
I am excited to share there appears to be a light at the end of the online learning tunnel. This week our school board agreed to a tentative reopening date of April 5 for the districts' high schools and middle schools. Of course, this is dependent on the district meeting the county and state requirements, but we are definitely on the right path.
Assuming the requirements are met, RVHS will reopen with Every Class, Every Day with Every Student. Due to our reduced class sizes, we will NOT be following the cohort model used by the traditional high schools, nor will we offer a "stay online" option. On Mondays, attendance will be optional with a focus on intervention. More information will follow as we get closer to Spring Break.
Please stay safe, wear a mask and wash your hands.
We got this!

STAFF SHOUT OUTS FROM PARENTS AND STUDENTS
MRS. CUNNINGHAM
"I would like to give a shout out to Mrs. Cunningham. She may seem like a teacher with an easy job just assigning students with work on apex but she’s far more than that. Not only has she connected with students on a personal level but she takes time out of school hours to try to help students as much as possible. From the day I cheered her on at Rancho strong week till today, she’s been the best teacher I’ve ever bonded with on a friendship and student to teacher level. Thank you, Mrs. Cunningham! You’re the best! Stay Strong!"

MRS. COOPER
"I would like to make a teacher shout out to Mrs. Cooper. Mrs. Cooper truly cares about her students and wants to see them do good and pass her class. The messages she sends help keep me motivated and on track of my class. It's the little things that really do make a difference."

MRS. SHANAHAN
My son, Evan Byron is a junior. He struggled with home schooling last
year but has been doing fantastic this year (he was even Student of
the Week)! He talks a lot about Mrs. Shanahan.
Thank you for recognizing the teachers and staff who are working to
educate our children during a difficult time.

"Mrs. Shanahan cares about her students and she realizes that kids have five
other teachers."

Employee Of The Week
Mr. Dan Adkins
Dan Adkins was brought on board at RVHS years ago as our solar technology teacher. Dan has a background in business and product design. This makes sense, because he has owned and operated his own businesses as well as inventing products along the way. Dan is a person who is not afraid of change or growth in his life. He has had many changes during his time at RVHS, from CTE classes to picking up random PE periods to help out. As the CTE programs have grown to meet the needs of the students, so has Dan. He now teaches our CTE pathway in Prod Innov and Design, where he splits time at CHS and RVHS. Also, he is teaching a PE course along with RVHS’s new Work Experience class. Again, showing his versatility and desire to put the students first.
Dan has a big heart and anyone who has talked to him would agree. If you ever get a chance to see him in class with students you would see that he brings great energy and relevance to his subjects. He is a very active person who enjoys being outside. You can even catch him playing basketball or throwing a football with students during class and lunch. He is happy to chat with colleagues and tell them about his past inventions and outdoor adventures, which are very much connected. Thank you Dan for sharing your experiences with the students and providing so many opportunities for them at RVHS. You are our employee of the week.
