Dear Erickson Families,
Spring Break is next week! The school will be OPEN from 9:00-2:00 March 25 - March 27, 2024 if parents have any registration questions. Please make sure to complete your child's registration as soon as possible.
CoGat Reports are being sent home on Friday. Please check backpacks for your child's results and a parent letter. Click here to view more information about the CoGat assessment from the Director of Teaching and Learning.
The district received a CARES Mental Health Grant which provides free mental health services to families in the Bloomingdale Community. Students will be bringing home a postcard on Thursday or Friday this week with information. See flyer below or Click here to view the flyer.
Student Placement for 2024-2025 will take place in May. Parents can assist in the process by completing a 2024-2025 Student Placement Form. Parent input about their child’s academic experiences can provide valuable insight to this process. Parents should not use this form to recommend a specific classroom teacher. If you are interested in filling out the form (this is NOT mandatory), please complete by April 26. We begin the placement process in May and no forms will be accepted after that date.
Temporary Change of Positions...Mrs. Frattinger will be taking a leave of absence in April. During this time, Miss Naples, 5th grade teacher, will be taking over Mrs. Frattinger's responsibilities as Assistant Principal. Miss Naples has a Master's Degree in Education Administration. While Miss Naples is serving as the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Windsor, 5th Grade Paraprofessional will be teaching 5th Grade. Mrs. Windsor is a certified teacher and has completed three leaves of absences at Erickson over the past two years. She currently supports 5th grade and knows all of the students.
Solar Eclipse April 8th...Solar eclipse glasses were purchased for students in Grades 1-5 to view the solar eclipse on April 8th around 1:56. Please review the letter below to read more about the Solar Eclipse. Paper permission slip to sign and return are being sent home today, Thursday or Friday.

3rd-5th Grade Students will be taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness April 8-12. There are 3 math assessments and 3 reading assessments. Please make sure students arrive to school on time during this week with a fully charged chromebook, eat a good breakfast, and are ready to try their best. In an effort to motivate and encourage students to try their best, please consider donating a bag of candy. Please check out this list of needed items to motivate our students to give their best during testing week!
The Student Led Club Contest winning clubs are ready for students to join! See the six student led club options available to students during the lunch/recess hour. Please review the list below. Not all clubs apply to each grade. Student permission slips are also available in classrooms.
Time to order Hot Lunch. The hot lunch order form is now open, see flyer below. Orders are due by Friday, April 5 at 9:45pm NO EXCEPTIONS!
If you need to report an absence, please call the school 630-529- 2223 or email the teacher and the attendance line: erattendance@sd13.org. If you need to report a change in dismissal for your child and it is after 2:00pm, please call the school.

5th Grade STEAM Students Create Snuffle Mats
Using old t-shirts, 5th Grade students created Snuffle Mats for shelter animals at Anderson Humane Society during their STEAM class.

*Please note: 1:40 Early Dismissal Days/School Improvement are on FRIDAY. Early Dismissal/School Improvement days are one Friday per month and FULL DAY students are dismissed at 1:40 while teachers are involved in professional development activities. Half-Day PM Kindergarten will attend school at their normal PM times. Preschool does not attend on early dismissal days.

Second Trimester OTUS Memo - To View Student Grades
Grades for the second trimester will be updated in Otus on Friday, March 15, 2024. Instead of sending home progress reports, we ask that parents use the OTUS portal to view student grades. Please see the instructions below to connect with your child’s OTUS account:
If you have not done so already, create an account in OTUS https://my.otus.com/login. Please Note: Your student already has an OTUS account from the school district. To avoid confusion, it's best to use your own name rather than your student's name when creating the Family account.
Follow the directions in the video, article, or slidedeck below to create an OTUS account. All three documents have the same information.

Contact the classroom teacher or Mrs. Lents to get your child(ren)’s unique OTUS code.
To check your child's progress on Otus, click on Gradebook. Choose which class you would like to see progress in. Keep in mind that these standards are year long goals. Please view the grades in Otus as a progress report on your child’s current mastery levels. They may change throughout the year as skills are reassessed.
Besides grades parents are also able to view historical data on standardized tests such as MAP, OLSAT, and IAR.

2024-2025 School Fees will be posted to your student(s) account shortly. Once the fee is
posted, you will receive an email from My School Bucks. Fees are due September 1, 2024.
2024-2025 Registration Now Open
As the District moves to a new registration portal (Alma) for the 2024-2025 school year, ALL families (New and Returning) will be required to prove residency. Previous documents submitted are not able to be transferred to Alma.
In the meantime, please reference the attached proof of residency documentation to start compiling the necessary documents.

Grades 1st-5th: 8:40-3:30
Kindergarten AM: 8:40-11:30

Student Arrival:
Kindergarten-5 grade students can begin arriving at 8:25. Students should gather in the front of the building. Doors open at 8:30. Students should arrive by 8:40
Lunch Hours:
1st, 2nd & 3rd Grade Lunch: 12:00-12:25
4th-5th Grade Lunch: 12:25-12:50
Dropping off lunches from restaurants (ie- McDonald's, Wendy's, Panera, etc.) as well as using food delivery services to drop off food (ie -GrubHub, Door Dash) is not allowed. Students should bring their lunch in the morning to school each day. Safety is our number one priority and we would like to limit visitors.
