A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
Here we are in the month of December! Holiday decorations are sprouting up everywhere as we begin preparing for the holiday season. There is no doubt that this is a wonderfully busy time of year. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can sometimes be stressful for both adults and children. Continue to support your child in his/her school success by ensuring a bed time is maintained during this busy time time of year. Studies show that adequate sleep supports learning, brain development, and concentration; all of which contribute to school success! Please help us as we encourage our students to stay focused during instruction.
We will be celebrating school and classroom December Festivities on December 18, 2024. Your child’s teacher will be providing you with classroom December Festivities information. If you are donating a treat for classroom festivities, all treat donations must be store-bought items.
The drop in temperatures last week reminds us that students need to come to school properly dressed for the weather. Please take the weather into consideration when you dress your child for the day. As the weather gets cooler, jackets and coats will be necessary for your child to bring to school. Please continue practicing zipping up jackets at home with younger students. Please remember to LABEL EVERYTHING!
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer

Report Cards Coming in December: Be Ready with HAC!
Dear Rainbow Families,
Studies show when schools and families work together to support learning, children do better in school. Rainbow Elementary School and the CASD support and encourage this important home/school partnership. One important tool for keeping the lines of communication open is providing families with updates on their child's progress with report cards.
Families will receive their student's first trimester report card through Home Access Center. Below you will find, English and Spanish, step-by-step directions for creating your HAC account and information on how to access your student's report card on Home Access. Please review the parent guide below on accessing elementary report cards using Home Access.

Dear Rainbow Second and Third Grade Families,
We are excited to announce the launch of our new STEM Club at Rainbow Elementary! This year, we are offering a unique opportunity for students to explore STEM concepts in a playful and supportive environment. Additionally, materials such as Ozobots and Makey Makey will be used to learn about programming and engineering design.
We are inviting all students in grades 2 and 3 to join the upcoming cohort of the STEM Club. Younger students will be invited to join another cohort later in the school year. The STEM Club will meet after school on the selected Thursdays from 4:15-5:15 PM. Parents must ensure that their child is picked up promptly at 5:15 PM after each session. Message from the CASD IT Department
The Coatesville Area School District IT department is working on improving digital security for students and one of our improvements includes changing the student login method for Home Access Center (HAC).
Effective 11/18/24 students in grades 6-12 will sign in to HAC using their district email address and password with Microsoft 365 single sign-on (SSO).
What will change?
Students will have a different URL to sign in to HAC and use their district provided email address and password to log in.
The existing Home Access Center button on our district website will redirect visitors to select either Parent or Student for Home Access Center
Students will no longer need to contact their guidance counselors for a password reset to access HAC.
Elementary School student HAC access will be turned off for security reasons.
Parents/Guardians who used their student's HAC account to view information will need to self-register for an account (see below).
What will stay the same?
Parent/Guardian HAC accounts for grades K-12 will not be impacted. Our self-registration process will remain available as well password resets as they have in the past.
If you need to register for an account, please see the attached instructions.

Volunteer and Field Trip Chaperone Information
Dear Rainbow Families,
As the school year is underway, I would like to inform you of the Coatesville Area School District school board approved policy No.916: Volunteers. The purpose of this policy is to recognize that volunteers can make valuable contributions to the school district. All schools within the district encourage the use of volunteers subject to the requirements of Applicable Law and this policy.
There are two distinct definitions within the policy regarding volunteers and helpers.
· Volunteer: an adult applying for or performing an unpaid position as a volunteer who is responsible for the welfare of a child or children or having direct contact with children. A volunteer may supervise students without the presence of a teacher or certified paraprofessional. Volunteers may undertake activities such as: field trip chaperones, tutoring students, and assisting before, during or after school activities.
· Helper: an adult who provides help or assistance in an event or function, but who does not meet the definition of a volunteer whereas the helper is not responsible for the welfare, care, supervision, guidance or control of a child or children independently of a teacher or certified paraprofessional. Helpers may undertake activities such as: class part, cafeteria help, material preparation, assisting a teacher in the classroom.
Adults who meet the definition of a volunteer under Applicable Law or under this policy shall be required to complete a registration/disclosure form and provide the following:
a) Act 34 State Police History Report
This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found online at https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
b) Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance Statement
