Writing becomes Foamy Fun in Kindergarten

Our first graders have been practicing their abilities to recognize sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization, which are key elements in building strong reading skills. Through interactive activities, students learned how these components work together to help sentences flow, making reading smoother and more understandable.

Black and Orange Day at Bennett - 10/31
On Thursday, October 31, students and staff are invited to display their spirited nature by wearing black and orange to school. While costumes will not be permitted during the school day, let’s fill the halls of Bennett with fun, creativity, and spirit!
School Pictures Now Available for Order
Lifetouch has informed us that school pictures are ready! To order, log in to your account on mylifetouch.com or create an account using your child's student ID number. All families can also log on and order a FREE Digital SmileSafe card. to learn more about the Smilesafe program, click here.
Bus Riders Practice Emergency Procedures
Bus riders participated in annual bus evacuation and safety drills this past week. Students heard from their drivers about bus safety and how to respond if there should be an accident. As part of the drill, students practiced exiting from the emergency door in the back of the bus. Everyone did a great job!
No School Notice - Tuesday, November 5
There will be no school on Tuesday, November 5. That is Election Day and many of the city's schools are being used as polling sites. While the students have the day off, teachers and staff will participate in professional development activities.
Join the Bennett Elementary School Facebook Group
We’re excited to invite parents to join the Bennett Elementary School Facebook group, managed by BES administrators. This private group will showcase highlights of lessons, activities, and events happening at school. It’s a great way to stay connected and celebrate the wonderful things our students are learning and experiencing. Parents can request to join by searching for the page online or by using the SKU code provided.
Student Absences
If your child misses school for any reason, please contact the main office. Absences may be excused for medical appointments with a note from the doctor's office. Notes can be sent in to your child's teacher or faxed/emailed directly to the main office.
Health Office Updates
The BES Health Office is here to support the well-being of all our students. Our school nurse, Christine Kimball, oversees the Health Office and is dedicated to providing care for every student during the school day. This includes managing chronic health conditions, illnesses, and any injuries that may occur. She can be contacted at (508) 821-1245 or ckimball@tauntonschools.org.
Reminders about Student Health and Wellness:
- Please share any changes to your child's prescription medications with the nurse
- If a child is absent for five or more consecutive days, a written note from your child’s health care provider may be required for re-entry to school.
- If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or more, diarrhea, or vomiting, he/she cannot return to school until they are fever/symptom free for 24 hours without the use of fever/symptom reducing medicine (Tylenol, Motrin etc.)

Be a Part of the Bennett PTO
The Bennett PTO is a group of parents, teachers, and administrators working together to help supplement the educational offerings at BES by planning, coordinating, and running special events and fundraisers. The group is always looking for new members and volunteers. If you would like to take a more active role in supporting the school community, please consider joining. The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, at 6 PM in the BES cafeteria. More info will be available in future newsletters.
