🔭👨🏻💻MR. LAPORTE AND CSUSM STEM PROGRAM AT RMS 🧪📐➗
Every Tuesday, CSUSM students come to our school and meet with students in Mr. LaPorte's Math/Science 6th-8th grade class. In this challenge, students create a stop-motion animation that inspires everyone to take action against climate change. They use a storyboard, set design, and adjustable figures. STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. These four fields share an emphasis on innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
DRAMA - WOW WHAT A FANTASTIC FIELD TRIP! 🎭
Drama class and club took a trip to the Balboa Theater in downtown San Diego to enjoy a production of School Yard Rap: Soy Asombroso Musical Experience, hosted by the San Diego County Office of Education. Students enjoyed live music, dancers from various Latino and Hispanic cultures, and lots of Hispanic history! This was a perfect opportunity for our drama students to enjoy a professional production in a beautiful historic theater as well as celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. After the show, they had lunch at Balboa Park as they enjoyed the sites outside the Air and Space Museum. Our drama students exemplified the Wildcat Way during the performance and during our lunch break at Balboa Park.
The main message of the show was "You are amazing! You are beautiful! You are intelligent!" and we know this is true of all of our Roosevelt Wildcats!
EQUITY WALKS AT RMS

🚌 Transportation
**********************
Bike safety is essential for all cyclists, whether you're riding for fun, fitness, or commuting. Here are vital tips to ensure a safe biking experience; please remind your child about this:
- Wear a Helmet: Always wear a properly fitted helmet to protect your head in case of an accident. It can reduce the risk of serious injury by up to 85%.
- Use Proper Gear: Wear bright, reflective clothing to make yourself visible, especially in low-light conditions. Equip your bike with lights and reflectors for added visibility.
- Follow Traffic Rules: Bicycles are considered vehicles, so follow the same rules. Ride with traffic, obey stop signs and lights, and signal your turns.
- Stay Alert: Look for road hazards like potholes, gravel, or debris, and be aware of parked cars to avoid "dooring" accidents when a car door suddenly opens in front of you.
- Be Predictable: Ride in a straight line, avoid sudden swerves, and use hand signals to communicate with drivers and pedestrians.
- Check Your Bike: Before heading out, inspect your bike to ensure the tires are properly inflated, the brakes work, and the chain is in good condition.
By following these safety tips, you can enjoy your ride while reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
NO Cell Phones Policy
As part of our dual obligation to educate students and ensure their safety when at school, Vista Unified has updated its cell phone policies for the 2024-25 school year. Elementary and middle school students will be prohibited from using personal electronic devices, such as cell phones and smart watches, while on school campus. Students in grades TK-8th grade will be required to turn off all personal devices and store them away in their backpacks while on campus.
Parent Square
ParentSquare is a communication platform designed to bridge the gap between schools and families. It serves as a centralized hub for parents, teachers, and administrators to effortlessly exchange messages, share important updates, and collaborate on various aspects of a student's educational journey. With features such as announcements, event scheduling, volunteer sign-ups, and more, ParentSquare streamlines communication, fosters parent engagement, and enhances the overall school experience for everyone involved.

PAWS of the Month
Integrity is the quality of being honest and maintaining high moral standards. One easy way to define integrity is to think of it as “being good, even when nobody else is watching.”
