Greetings Washington Families,
š Happy Monday! š Weāre excited for an incredible week ahead at Washington GT, filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and explore! One event you wonāt want to miss is our International Night this Thursday from 6:00-7:30 PM. Students can create their own passport and travel the globe as they explore nearly 20 countries through cultural displays, interactive games, and performances. Plus, the Book Fair will be open during International Night, so be sure to stop by the Media Center for some shopping!
Speaking of the Book Fair, it will run all week, and you can also shop online if thatās more convenient. Looking for a unique holiday gift idea? Consider a Literati Book Club Membership. For every membership purchased, our school gets $100 back to help buy new books for the Washington Media Centerāan amazing way to support your childās reading journey and give back to our school! Meet Ms. Laney!
Bio: I grew up in Cary, NC and after graduating from Cary High School, I went to East Carolina University and received a B.S. in Business Administration. I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 16 years. During my time there, I went to Meredith College and obtained an MBA. Although I enjoyed my time in āCorporate Americaā, I have always had a profound interest in teaching. This led me to pursue my true calling. I enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Meredith College. I student taught in 2nd grade at Washington and then joined the 4th grade team. I am committed to the academic, social, and emotional success of all my students. It is a joy seeing them learn and grow! My husband and I have two sons and one exuberant labradoodle. I love spending time with my family, reading, and watching Duke basketball.

From set-up, assisting during class preview, shopping times, to fair breakdown, we need YOU! If you are able to volunteer but the hours listed do not work for you, feel free to reach out and we will get you in.
