SIAM Card Sales Reminders and Tips

SIAM has been the largest fundraiser for the Lincoln-Way Band for over 30 years. Sales from the SIAM card go toward the LWMB to help fund the season which includes our top notch instructional staff, uniforms, instrument maintenance, equipment, transportation and more.

Every LWMB member needs to sell 20 cards this season which will get us most of the way to our funding goals. However, we are encouraging everyone to sell more than 20 cards so we can fully fund the LWMB and so we don't have to add additional fundraisers later on this season.

Every LWMB member was given 25 cards to try to help them go past their goal of 20 cards sold. If you need additional cards, please contact Jen Clark at 708-860-2434 or jennyclark79@gmail.com. Students/parents may request additional cards!

Any unsold cards need to be returned by July 25 or you will be billed for them in Charms.

We are offering several incentives, to encourage students to sell above the 20 card requirement. Here are the details:

*If a student sells their 20 card requirement and turns in the payment by July 4, they will get to sleep in one morning of band camp and arrive 2 hours late.

*If a student sells a total of 25 cards by the end of the student sale and turns in the payment (July 25), they will receive a personalized black LWMB jacket (photo below).

*If a student sells a total of 35 cards by the end of the student sale and turns in the payment (July 25), they will receive personalized LWMB joggers (photo below).

*If a student sells over 35 cards, they will receive $5 cash from Fundraiser Pete for every card sold over 35.

We also have a few group incentives to encourage the students to work together to reach our goal of selling 3500 total cards. LWMB members have been divided into teams (woodwinds/brass/percussion/color guard).

*The top team wins an all you can eat Buffalo Wild Wings party. Percentage of sales for each team will tracked and the winning team will be determined after the last SIAM checkpoint on July 25.

*The whole band will earn a pizza party if we sell 3500 cards.

*Mr. Barnish sweetened the pot by adding an extra incentive during the kickoff meeting on Tuesday. If an entire section sells their required 20 cards and turns in the payment by July 4, the section will get the entire morning off of one day of band camp. This incentive is for individual sections (flute/clarinets/saxes/trumpets/mellos/baritones/tubas/percussion/guard).

Start selling today!

Make a list of potential customers such as phone contacts, neighbors, friends, relatives, teachers, etc.

When selling, introduce yourself and tell the customers that you are raising money to support the LWMB.

If possible, wear LWMB spirit wear and go with someone if you are going door to door. Bring a parent, sibling, or other LWMB members.

Make eye contact, smile and ask "Can you help support the Lincoln-Way Marching Band?"

Highlight a deal or two on the card. For example, if your family goes to Fleckenstein's (or any other business), you can mention how the card will pay for itself after only a few visits.

*The 10 key tag discounts are one-time use deals with an approximate value of $100.

*The 20 discounts listed on the back of the card are good through May 2024 and can be used over and over again, so customers can definitely get a great return on their investment in the card.

*Additional businesses with discounts are listed in www.lwsiam.com. The SIAM card is also accepted at all the businesses listed online and these discounts can be used over and over again through May 2024.

*Customers can scan the QR code at the top of the card and gain access to over 500,000 discounts nationwide through the Entertainment Book. So, family and friends who don't live in the Lincoln-Way area can still purchase the card to support the band.

How can customers pay?

*Cash, zelle, venmo, apple pay

*Family/friends/neighbors can write a check to you

*Pay via the Raise 365 app - There is a handling fee when purchasing through the app to cover the credit card fees. If someone purchases via the app, you will need to mail/deliver a SIAM card to your customer from your stack of 25.

When to turn in your money?

We will have several SIAM checkpoints over the next few weeks. Students or parents can turn in payment (cash or ONE check made out to Lincoln-Way Marching Band from an LWMB parent for the total amount).

June 27 - 3:30-4:30pm at LW EAST stadium

July 4 - After the July 4 parade in the LW EAST stadium

July 11 - TBD

July 25 - At band camp
