2025-2026 Kindergarten Registration Continues!
Who: Students who will turn 5 years old on or before 9/10/25.
What: Things you will need to gather in preparation for registration: Child’s Birth Certificate, Completed Immunization Record, Two Forms of Proof of Address (utility bill, phone bill, lease agreement)
New This Year: Families may register kindergarten students at the MCPS Enrollment Office located on the MCPS Administration Campus, Building A, 909 South Ave. West, Missoula, MT.
MCPS encourages the families of children who will be age 5 on or before September 10, 2025, to register as soon as possible. Registering early helps our District with future planning and helps families connect with their neighborhood school.
MCPS provides full-day kindergarten classes in all of our elementary schools. All kindergarten students who reside within MCPS elementary school district boundaries are guaranteed a spot in one of our classrooms. Students are more likely to get a spot in their neighborhood school
if they are registered early in the process.
Please contact the MCPS Enrollment Office, (406)728-2400, ext. 1082 for kindergarten registration assistance.
Fourth Grade Read-a-Thon a big success!
Congratulations to the Fourth Grade Read-a-Thon readers!
We raised $6,100.00 and students read over 67,509 minutes!
Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported our Read-a-Thon!
Thank you to our fabulous readers!
We will visit the capitol in Helena, learn about grizzly bear safety at Montana Wild, and host our Montana History Center naturalists that visit our classrooms once a month to teach us about the structure and functions of animals and plants.
A sincere thank you from your Fourth-Grade Teachers,
Mrs. Brown, Ms. Mosbacher and Mrs. Jones
Counselor's Corner: A Note From Ms. Myers
6 Phrases to Support Your Child with Hard Feelings
“I hear you’re having a tough time. I’m here with you.”
“It sounds like you’re feeling pretty sad that happened. Do you want to talk about it?”
“It sounds like you’re having two feelings about this, Excited and nervous, too?”
“When I feel upset, I like to move around and shake those feelings out. Want to try it?”
“Are you upset that I said no? It’s ok to be angry about that.”
“It’s ok to cry. I love you and I’m on your side.”
Holding Space for our kids when they experience big feelings is one of the most powerful things we can do for them.
When we do this, they learn:
It’s ok to feel their feelings
They can rely on us to co-regulate
They learn the skills to self-regulate
Reminder about Phones, Watches & Toys
Please be mindful when sending phones or watch phones with your child to school. Students are asked to keep them in their backpacks during the school day. Also, please do not send toys from home unless invited for a class celebration. Toys are likely to get lost and often create distraction. Thanks for your help and understanding!
Please pick up after your pet on the playground fields!
If you bring your pet to school when dropping off or picking up your student(s), please be sure you pick up after your pet on school grounds and in the field. This is a health concern to keep our playground areas safe and inviting.
Remember! The shoes you save could be your own or your child's! There are bags at both the south and north end of the field.
Thank you!
Please send your child with safe PE shoes!
As the weather changes with spring coming, please be sure your student has appropriate PE shoes at school. Snow boots, Crocs and sandals are not appropriate or safe for PE activities. If providing PE shoes is a concern, please contact the Family Resource Center - frclewis@mcpsmt.org.
Door Decorators Needed - Share your creativity and appreciation!
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is coming up May 5th-9th. We will be decorating doors throughout the building again this year. This is a big undertaking, but so enjoyed by staff and students alike! We need lots of hands and help to make it happen.
If you are interested in decorating a door for your student's teacher or helping coordinate, please contact Kylie Barnes at kbarnes@mcpsmt.org or at 406-531-5998.
Attendance Matters!
If your child will be absent due to illness or travel, please call the
L&C Attendance Line to excuse them. 406-728-2400 ext. 4362
Please make sure and call or email the office when students are absent or tardy as sometimes teachers don't get to their emails once the day starts: atranel@mcpsmt.org or 406-542-4035
March Attendance Celebrations!
Lewis and Clark Families! We are aiming to fly to new heights this year with attendance to make this a year of SUPER H.E.R.O.s (Here! Everyday! Ready to Learn! and On Time!)
In our effort to encourage attendance, each month any student who misses 0 or 1 day of school is entered into a drawing for a prize.
For March, 371 students of our 424 students qualified for the drawing.
Ten students won a L&C Lynx water bottle. Way to be at school Lynx!
We celebrate one class of SuperH.E.R.O.s who had the most students at school all month long. That class gets a special visit from Ms. Vaneps and keeps the Attendance Trophy in their classroom for the month. The top 2 classes with the most students here for the month
will also receive attendance charms.
Our top class winner for March is Mrs. Griffin's 1st Grade Class with 96.7%!
Our second place class for March is Mrs. Garland's Fifth Class with 95.9%!
Keep up the good attendance, Lynx!
