AROUND THE DISTRICT
Kings Canyon Unified Celebrates “Service with a Heart” Award Recipients
We are proud to honor three exceptional members of the Kings Canyon Unified School District family who have recently been recognized by Superintendent John Campbell with the prestigious “Service with a Heart” challenge coin. This award acknowledges individuals who consistently go above and beyond in fostering a welcoming, supportive, and compassionate environment for all educational partners.
Juana Herrera, head secretary at MVS, was the first-ever recipient of this award. Juana’s dedication to creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere is evident in her interactions with students, parents, and staff alike. Whether she’s handling daily office duties or assisting with unique needs, her kindness and professionalism ensure that everyone feels respected and valued.
Victor Ramirez, custodian at A.L. Conner, was honored for his calm, caring demeanor and dedication to serving others. From helping a parent with car troubles to comforting an ill student, Victor always goes the extra mile to ensure that everyone on campus feels safe and cared for.
Leticia White, head secretary at Great Western, was also recognized for her outstanding service. Leticia’s warm smile and genuine willingness to help have made her a cornerstone of the Great Western community. Whether she’s assisting parents, supporting students, or helping staff with administrative needs, Leticia creates a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all.
These awards are part of Kings Canyon Unified’s ongoing commitment to building a customer service culture where all educational partners—students, parents, staff, and community members—are respected, valued, and heard. Through friendly, empathetic, and personalized support, we aim to make our schools places where everyone feels at home. Future honorees will be nominated by their school site or department leaders, and we look forward to recognizing more of the incredible individuals who contribute to our district’s culture of care.
Please join us in congratulating Juana, Leticia, and Victor for their exceptional service and commitment to making Kings Canyon Unified a wonderful place to learn and grow!
Fiesta Fun for Everyone
This year’s Reedley Fiesta took us on an awesome trip back to the 80s, and it was a blast from the past! The streets were alive with neon colors, big hair, and some of the most creative floats we’ve seen yet. Our very own Reedley High School and Orange Cove High School bands rocked the crowd with stellar performances, setting the tone for a day full of fun and nostalgia.
The competition was fierce, but our schools really brought their A-game! In the Elementary and Junior High category, Alta Elementary took home the Sweepstakes Award for their outstanding float. The Grand Marshal Award went to Lincoln Elementary for their vibrant and creative entry, while Silas Bartsch School claimed 1st Place, followed by Navelencia Middle School in 2nd, and Riverview School rounding out the top three.
In the High School category, Kings Canyon High School cruised to victory with their 80s-themed float, earning 1st Place. Reedley High School Class of 2026 secured 2nd Place, and the RHS Class of 1974 wowed the crowd, earning 3rd Place with their nostalgic flair.
We also had some amazing talent on display in the Performance Category, with Reedley High School Latin Dance taking home 1st Place for their vibrant and energetic routine. In the Walking Category, Reedley High School NJROTC marched their way to a solid 3rd Place finish.
Thanks to all the students, staff, and families who helped make this year’s Reedley Fiesta a totally rad success! Can’t wait to see what next year brings!
