Principal Update
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and it’s time to celebrate the amazing educators who put their heart and soul into everything they do. Our teachers are the anchors of our school community—steady, strong, and full of Stingray pride!
To help kick off the celebration with a smile, here’s a fun little poem just for them:
Teachers at Rose are one-of-a-kind,
With caring hearts and brilliant minds.
They guide, they laugh, they always inspire—
They spark curiosity and lift spirits higher.
They juggle the pencils, the questions, the glue,
And somehow still know just what to do.
With high fives and hugs, they’re super cool,
They make school the best—’cause Stingrays rule!
We are so fortunate to have such passionate and hardworking educators at Rose School and we can’t thank them enough for the difference they make in the lives of our students every day.
Best,
Dr. Ruesch
Stringray Pride
Congratulations to 4th grader, Shreyas! He recently participated in regional contests conducted by North South Foundation. He placed second in the Math Bee and won first place in Spelling Bee. He will be participating in National contest in August which is being held at University of Texas, Dallas. We are so proud of your accomplishment! G-O-O-D-L-U-C-K!
Book Drive
Rose School is hosting a Book Drive for Bernie's Books. We are accepting books for children from birth through HS. The Book Drive will continue until May 30th. Not accepted: sticker and activity books, adult books, textbooks, or books that are damaged.
Summer Library
The Rose School Library will be open to Barrington 220 families during the month of June.
On Wednesdays, from 1:00 to 3:00, students can hear a staff member read aloud, play games, do an activity and, of course, check out library books! All activities will take place in the library.
Stop by on June 4, 11, 18 and 25!
This is not a drop off event. Students must be accompanied by a caregiver. Due to construction, the library will not be open in July or August.
5th Grade Human Growth and Development Unit
As you may know, our fifth-grade students learn about human growth and development as part of our science and health curriculum. Your child will work through these two lessons on the following date(s): May 13th and 14th.
These short lessons focus on changes associated with puberty - physical, social, and emotional changes, as well as personal hygiene, and positive health choices. We understand that the parent/caregiver is the primary educator for topics of this nature, and we are committed to this partnership. The lessons and materials that we use in our instruction are linked below for you to preview, along with additional resources for your reference.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher, and if you wish to have your child excused from this unit, please contact your school principal Dr. Cindy Ruesch cruesch@barrington220.org
