The Husky's Howl Week 2
September 6, 2024
Principal's Message
Thank you to everyone who attended Curriculum Night! It was wonderful to see so many of you and share what’s ahead for this school year. For those unable to join us, you can find the slides from the Principal’s message below.
Next week marks our first FULL week of school, and it's important to establish routines at home to help your child(ren) adjust. Here are some tips to support your them as they settle into the school year:
1. Establish Consistent Routines:
2. Prepare the Night Before:
- Help your child pack their backpack, organize school materials, and lay out their clothes for the next day. This can make mornings smoother and less rushed.
3. Encourage Independence:
- Let your child take responsibility for their belongings and schoolwork to build confidence.
4. Create a Homework Routine:
- Designate a specific time and quiet space for homework to establish good habits early.
5. Talk About Their Day:
- Ask open-ended questions like “What was the best part of your day?” to encourage meaningful conversation.
6. Support Healthy Habits:
- Ensure they have a nutritious breakfast, stay hydrated, and have time for movement.
I hope this helps you as you support their adjustment to the first full week and beyond. Thank you for your continued partnership as we embark on another exciting school year!
Warm regards,
Shari Pawlus

Table Talk: Spark Meaningful School Conversations
We know that asking "How was school?" often leads to short responses like "fine," "good," or "I don't know." Try these conversation starters to dig deeper and learn more about your child's day:
- What was the most interesting thing you learned today?
- Did you try something new at recess or in class?
- Tell me about a moment today when you felt proud.
- Was there a part of your day that felt challenging?
- Who did you spend time with at lunch or recess, and what did you talk about?
