Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Russ Booth
June 16th, 2024
As we head into the last week of school, there are a few reminders we want families to be aware of this week. We will continue with final exams this week (schedule below), and families are reminded that each day of final exams are a half-day, with students being released from school by 10:30am. The last official day of school is Thursday, June 20th, but this is considered a make-up day for exams, and students are not expected to be in school unless they are taking an exam or taking care of an obligation prior to the start of the summer.
There will be no school on Wednesday, June 19th as we observe Juneteenth.
Last week we unveiled the new Hornet and M logo during our Special Olympics rally. It was a great event and the students were excited to see the new logos, and many were able to snag a t-shirt with the new design on it. This past week the district put out a press release (linked here) that outlined the process we went through, the history of the Hornets, and the significance of some of the parts of the new "M" and Hornet. The press release also includes a "style guide" that members of the community can view and access the various new logos. We are excited about the feedback thus far and we are incredibly grateful to all the members of the working group who provided valuable feedback along the way. A special shout-out goes to the students involved in the process, as they provided some of the best feedback along the way and helped us land on what was unveiled at the rally last week.
There is a variety of information that can be found below, so please be sure to scroll through and check out the new information.
